Question about intel integrated graphics issue

I know *that* intel integrated graphics chips don't work well with Ryzom and produce white textures and other artifacts. I'm curious, however, as to *why* this is the case. From what I can tell Ryzom doesn't use a graphics engine any more advanced than, say, Guild Wars, and Guild Wars doesn't have this problem. I'd really like to get into Ryzom but as my only access to a Windows system is through my MacBook running Boot Camp, I'm stuck with the intel integrated 945GM.

Intel has rudimentary hardware 3D support at best.
Even the newest version (975 I think) is way behind what a basic add-on video card has.
GW decided to allow their engine to run in software rendering mode. Not all game designers decide to support non-hardware/low end graphics systems.
