Info on what happened on Monday the 1st and Tuesday

It's time to give a bit more explanation on what happened on the 1st and 2nd.
There were several power cuts (the cause is still unknown) in the data center where the game servers are hosted starting from the 1st around 7 am (GMT+1). A couple of hours after the first power outage, we reopened the shards but had to close them again after we discovered a login issue. Not long after we corrected it, another power cut occured. After the shards reopened, this time we've had to deal with characters switches and needed to do a rollback to sort them out. As if it wasn't enough, when we reopened the shards around 1am on the 2nd (GMT+1) the Outposts ownerships were reset.
So yesterday on the 2nd of January, we closed the shards from 5 pm (GMT+1) to around 6:30 pm to restore the OPs as they were on the 1st before all the trouble.
Overall, the game was barely accessible and playable during most of the first day of 2007, while we were all - devs and CSRs - doing our best to solve all this mess. The website also suffered from the power outages and went back up late on the 1st. We are sorry for the inconvenience this has caused.
That's one of the many ways to start a new year... But surely not the best. Who talked about Y2K7 bug?
