brand new and lots of questions

hi all
a brand new rplayer here, and like the title sais, with a lot of questions, and looking for some advices
fist of all i dont expect to find someone who answers them al :) , but an answer and advice here and there would be swell.

1. healing and harvesting is a combination i would like to concentrate for.
is that a good combination or is an combination harvesting and fighter better .
2. loot system : what are the rules here, i found out that in a party the loot isnt diveded automaticly
3. how important is money in this game (i played lineage 2 and i left, because without plenty and very plenty of money, you were nothing.
4. whats the difference between the races, like i understand it, they're all the same except apperance.
5. Team play : is there xp bonus for a party. Also, if you want to train to become a healer, i see that you only get xp when you heal in combat. That's not very fair i think. So my healing skills will develope very slow i guess.
6. dubble boxing (play with 2 chars at the same time) is something very common in lineage, does it here ?
7. market system : is there a faq to explain me the selling system ?
8 3th programs, are they allowed here (like in wow) and when yes, witch one do i need
9. what skills, for harvester and healer should i consentrate for, and what skills should i ignore (dont wanne trouw my skill points to skills i will never use.

sorry for the many questions (i have lots more lol), and tnx for willing to answer one or two of them.

In the meantime, I hope to see you soon ingame ^^

1) Sounds ok to me, thats the beauty of the game you can do pretty much what you like. :)
2) Yeah, it'd be nice if it was but split up automaticly but we've always gone by splitting it up on our own. The community is pretty good about that (most of the time).
3) Money is a little tricky to start but later you end up with bucket loads you don't know what to do with. :p
4) Very little difference other than where they start off in the world, looks and natural resists to racial spells. Most just pick one depending on looks and/or the lore behind thier race.
5) xp is split between the memebers and yeah you have to team to level healing really. But who can't always use a healer? :)
6) It happens, you'd need two seperate accounts though :)
7) I can't think of an FAQ but then its not that complicated. You sell something to the npc if you want instant money or sell to players if you think somebody would want to buy it and add a mark-up amount. Once you sell them they'll be viewable on the merchants of the same or higher level in the towns, they'll only display in the land you sold them in though. After some time if the items are not sold they'll go for the base price, you can get them back though by looking under your sales tab. All the information about your player sales are displayed on there. :) You can also auction stuff in these forums.
8) Ryzom is designed to be run on its own. Anything that'll aid you such as macro programs will get you in trouble. Something like Frapps for recording is fine though.
9) Again, whatever takes your fancy. :)

Welcome to Atys and good luck!

Welcome to Atys, neuze :) *hugs*
  1. In Ryzom you can do everything, there are no catches, only benefits.
  2. Looting rules are up to the group. Often people will say they don't want anything anyway, some groups might like a rotation system, very often one person will loot until full and then ask who wants what, since crafters often only want certain types of material. As everywhere, it is generally rude to just dive in, though that can be a wise thing to do with some bosses giving you only seconds to grab any quarter.
  3. Money, or dapper, can be extremely tight when you begin, but probably by the time you reach 100 forage dappers will be almost worthless to you, and crafting materials become the marketable currency.
  4. Races make no difference to how you can play, there are no advantages or disadvantages. The differences are cosmetic, locational and factional. When you leave the Ruins of Silan and join the mainland you will go to your race capital, and it is well known that the Zorai lands are the least populated in the starter areas - though lately I think that could be challenged :) Your starting fame with all factions is dependent upon your race, also, but on the whole the balance is pretty even and the differences not very significant.
  5. There is no bonus xp for team hunting, it is simply far more practical than solo hunting because you can heal each other and have virtually no downtime. Yes, you can only win healing experience during combat, but because your target does not resist or try to protect itself this skill is in fact the easiest to level early on - you can get experience with any group your level or even very much higher than yourself.
  6. Double-boxing: I know a few people who do but most of us cannot afford that :p
  7. There's no faq about selling, but it's not very complicated. When you sell at a npc merchant she offers you a price for your item(s) based upon the item quality, etc, and your fame with whatever faction the trader considers herself part of. You can sell straight to the npc at that price or you can ask her to offer it up for sale to other players with a percentage markup that you specify. She then gives you her price anyway, and if a player buys that item from any appropriate trader in that land, then you receive the markup difference. If an item has not sold after 7 days then the traders throw it away. You can have up to 128 (?) items/stacks for sale at any time across Atys, and you can buy them back yourself for the price, or thereabouts, that the trader originally gave you.
  8. 3th programs? Not sure what you mean, sorry.
  9. For harvesting, always get Will upgrades when you can (Focus regeneration attribute), higher quality extractions, and gentle ones when they appear. Do that and you can't really make any bad choices, though personally I'd suggest Bonus Extraction Time is a waste of SP for a very long time.

Welcome to Atys :)

6. There's no real need for it, if your not a convinced, absolute soloist or raw material hoarder. There's no buffing here and supportive spells are of offensive nature only, or healing. No buffbotting and no RL currency trading here.

hf :)

There's a few of us dualboxers around ;) ; as mentioned you need two accounts (and two PCs unless you bot or are quick at switching) and thankfully those who do use their 2nd character to "bot" (as opposed to just using both computers at the same time as is allowed) are pretty quickly identified and/or dealt with by the CSRs :) Overall though, its not something that is very common.
