Sadly, I Will Be Leaving

I just resubscribed, unfortunately.
When I last played Ryzom I had not trouble with the game at all. I left because it was time for a break from MMOs.
Upon my return:
- Loaded up my old character and was unable to control her. Cursor would not appear on screen, WASD controls were dead. Bleh!
- Started new character as I decided I must not remember some crucial details of life in Ryzom. New character was created with WASD control, but ingmae these controls were completely dead. Tried the two mouse button move, that worked after about a 10 second lag, but I could not steer and letting up on the buttons did not cause me to stop, I just kept going, and going...
I'm sure glad this game works well for so many, it used to work fine for me, but no more.
Guess I'll stick with EVE. Bye.

You know you can redefine keys manually right?

Sure, but what good will it do to redefine keys manually when the keys I already defined do not work?
Besides, I prefer WASD for movement, why can't I use them?

I have also had problems creating new character, it asks you to select the keyset, but it still uses the arrow keys no matter what you select. Just redefine them manually.

Did you open a support ticket for your problems, or did you checked Klients?

Hmhm, maybe some driver Issue with the new "Bloom" effect.
Update Drivers, let the Programm check its Data, ask in technical Forum for help, write a ticket InGame or ask in Klients.
Surely it´s not a good start to have technical issues right away but quitting because of a temporal technical issue is silly.
Espacially if nobody else is experiencing these troubles, or just very few.
All will be well, I´m sure.
Just have little bit of patience.

noone knows whats going on, not even devs (or they just evil for not fixing it). probably related to some strange combination of windows version (xp, xpsp2, mediacenter, etc), directx version, display driver version, installed windows theme version and some unknown force.
it first appeared when they made "white system mouse cursor" to "golden ingame cursor" tweak.
Guess I'll stick with EVE.
eww...

You can always open the Key window and set the keys however you want.

If your new alt. works the way you want, copy the gamefiles to the other name.

The cursor doesn't show up huh?
Try minimizing Ryzom the reopen it. I have the cursor problem to sometimes and minimizing and reopening Ryzom always works for me.
Hope this helps.
