I've been following these forums for more than a year. Finally got a computer that can play the game & opened a free account about 3 weeks ago. After a few days of paying I decided to join up - luckily just a couple days before the cut-off.
I'm not having any problems with the game, just going through the learning curve. However, I do have a few questions:
Why does this forum log me out even when I'm active, reading posts and so on? It logged me out while I was writing this for instance - is there some option I need to change?
Is there a PM feature? If so, it's well hidden.
I have characters on Cho & Arispotle, which would be the best choice to concentrate on? I know Cho will be new and the economy isn't as frelled as on Arispotle. Also crafters and diggers won't ALL be 250 so I might actually able use those skills and sell what I find or make on Cho. However, many of the long time players are on Arispotle so I suspect finding a guild to join will be easier with more choices - especially as I'm considering being neutral for at least a while.

Id say Arispotle would be best for you.
Id write more details, but there is a hilarious flamewar going on in the general section of the forum.

As for the logout problem, you might have accidentally or on purpose blocked cookies from this place? Wayyyy back when you first came to the site and didn't think about it?
If you are using IE browser you can go into Tools --> Internet Options --> Privacy tab, click the Advanced button, I personally prefer to set "Prompt" for both kinds of cookies. One way to spot if you inadvertantly blocked cookies would be if you see a little "eye" symbol down on the bottom edge of the browser window, click it and it should show cookie handling for the page/site you are on. If you have blocked it, right click should allow you to go "default to standard cookie handling" or something like that. If you have set to Prompt as described above, close the browser and come back in, and when asked about any cookies that seem related to this site say "yes" for all cookies from this site (or equivalent choice.) You could also in Internet Options privacy tab check the list of cookie handling sites and see if anything looking related is set to "always block" and delete that entry, apply/OK, and again try re-entering the site and signing in.
I'm not familiar with how other browsers handle it.
The clever place they hid the PM feature is if you see someone's post, click their name in the left hand poster info and you get a little menu including PM this user.
I'm too new to give server advice

Re: Hello fellow homins
Didn't really have it blocked, but put it in the allow list to be sure about the cookie thing.
I see how to send PMs, I just don't see how to read them. I don't see an inbox or a pm notification at all. I'm sure it's something stupid I've overlooked, but then I'm a newb.

There are several ways to open your ingame mailbox.rakehell wrote:Didn't really have it blocked, but put it in the allow list to be sure about the cookie thing.

The first is from the game menu:
Communication - Mailbox
The second is:
Press F1 until a window selection dialog pops up. And check the box in front of Mailbox, in the yellow area.
Trini - Darkmoor Rangers

Re: Hello fellow homins
when I'm logged in it says "Welcome gretchen" in a little box in the upper right corner of the boards, and in that box is a clickable "private messages" line.
Also through the "User CP" link, first in the line of links under the bar where it says what board you are on.

Re: Hello fellow homins
Thanks, rushin, gretchen, & the rest. I knew the PM thing just had to be something I overlooked. However, after logging in on my screen I don't have the private message line. Maybe it only appears if I have a message. I don't see any way to send or recieve messages from the User CP either.

Re: Hello fellow homins
The PM function is not working for me as well, and I think the problem may be that our accounts are flagged as under 13 accounts (I'm quite a bit past 13 ). If you go to User CP, then Edit Profile, the following message appears in the top box (labeled COPPA Information) on the screen:
...with "administrator" as a clickable link to send a PM to the board admin. I sent one last week sometime, but have heard nothing back yet. When you make changes to this profile, your Parent / Guardian will be notified by email.
If you are over the age of 13, you should not be seeing this message. Please contact the administrator with your username, and your account will be changed.

Ah! Thanx, that was it. I'm not going to tell you how many multiples of 13 I am.weaz01 wrote:The PM function is not working for me as well, and I think the problem may be that our accounts are flagged as under 13 accounts (I'm quite a bit past 13 )...
