Hi, as I said on another post, I just started playing Ryzom 3 days ago, and I still have some questions about the game. Right now I'm still on he newbie island, I finished all fighter, magician and crafter quests, and some others too. Im about 32 magic, 25 fighting and 28 crafting. Now for the questions:

- How do I invert the mouse? The key customization is easy and awesome, but I just couldnt find how to invert the mouse. Its pretty annoying to move around after so many years using inverted mouse.

-If I plan to become Kami, is it better not to do any karavan quests? (and is Kami ok for magic oriented char)

-The ring attracted me a lot to the game. But when I upgraded my subscription, it was sad to see not one single ring game online. What's the best way to find such games?

-I know the skill system is one of the best things about this game, over other games classes. But in the newbie island it feels like there are just 2 classes. Teams have magicians and fighters. I love diversity. Is it better in higher levels were there are more skill tree paths?

-How do mules work? I don't think they follow you the whole time around :P

Well, those are the questions I make to myself about Ryzom. If somebody is bored like me at work, some answers would be nice.

Thanks.

There should be a button for it in the Interface Section of the Game-Configuration Window, if I remember correctly. :)

It´s completely your own choice as to wich Side you join. It´s got nothing to do with your Charakters skills. Ans yes, Karavan Missions give you Karavan Fame and substract Kami, Kami-Missionsgive you Kami Fame and substract Karavan, so well... ;)

If people put none into the terminals, then there are none I fear. :( *sigh*
I hope it´s only us getting used to building these things and not a general failure.

Get rid of the Class thought! :D
Later it may seem that there are still just two types of Charakters in a fight, but if you look deeper there will be enough variations in Skill-Levels and behaviour of the Charakters do differ. A Tank can switch to healing in a second and vice versa. A digger can go up and tank with a simple change of clothes and maybe Jewels and so forth...

Only if you tell them too. You may leave them at the stables or let them stand around, whatever you like.

I bored at home, does that count? :D

Well I already got rid of the class thought :P
Im talking about diversity. If I am in a team on 8 for example, I don't like us to be all the same.
In other posts, people talking in favour of Ryzom say that classes make you be something, while in Ryzom you can be whatever you want. Well ok, but at least in newbies land it seems more like everybody is the same, not everybody is what he wants.

And don't get me wrong, Im loving the game

Hmhm... diffucult to answer...

In a fight you may use whatever appropriate Skill you want.
You may use your Sword, or Axe, or Daggers, or you may use Healing Magic, afflictioning Magic, Elemental Megic and so forth...

In the Rest of the Game, you will be whatever you want to act like.
If for example you want to act like a lofty knight, then act like one.
If you want to act like a spritual Monk, well then do it. :)

If you ´re not into RP, then simply be yourself and enjoy the diverse pasttimes given to you. You don´t have to grind through levels one skill at a time. You may in one hour switch from balting away as a mage, to digging and then crafting something and back to fighting with your sword.

Otherwise I must admit that I don´t quite understand what your question is aimed at, sorry. :)

Since you can't play and have a scenario online you will not find much scenario's that will run constantly. I won't let Ryzom clog up my PC for running a scenario while I need to do other stuff, it takes to much resources.

I'll just answer about the scenarios. When are you online? I'm always looking for people to play mine. :)

The Ring thing might also have to do with whether you are subscribed or not yet (didn't catch that) because on trial you can only see certain special events that are Silan only. Someone ran a newbie event while I was on the island it was a lot of fun.

The Mektoub packers are mostly storage, and can be stabled or told to stay or follow you. Out of the stables they are vulnerable, can die, and their speed and durability are related to the cost. Lowest is 117k dappers and it goes up from there. Packers out of the stable get hungry and must be provided with food periodically or they get very slow.

Packers left in stable are basically a storage vault and don't get hungry. Nice fact about that is if you are crafting and are near the stable where the packer is, you can use materials both in your inventory and also in the packer inventory! Haven't tried with the packer out of the stable but I imagine it is any time you are near your packer. So to craft, you don't have to constantly shift the materials to your bag. All packers hold the same so if you just want stabled storage, the cheap packer is fine.

It may seem like on the starting Island (Ruins of Silan,) people fall into a small number of basic roles. That is mainly because they are doing the starter quests and getting and using the same items they get as rewards, and starting out people haven't had much time to branch out and specialize. There are no projectile weapons on Silan, for instance. On the mainland and with more levels, everyone won't be running around with the same 2 handed flaming sword, or the same set of Ranger Armor (nice though they are.)

Kami "feels" more along the lines of magic/druid (Zoraï, the closest aligned Kami civilization rp and story-wise are spiritual and magical race) while the Karavan have a techy "feel"....but those are storyline and roleplay only. Any of the 4 races can choose to ally with Kami or Karavan (or remain neutral) and can attain citizenship with any of the 4 civilizations (or remain stateless.)

You need to build up standing with the various entities to choose a state or a faction to ally with. Guilds make the same choices and this may determine if you can join a guild or not. Other than that, Kami or Karavan seems to only determine which set of potential teleport points you get. It is viable (if slightly limiting? that may be debated) to remain unaligned and stateless, truly a neutral agent on Atys.

With branching skilltrees and customization of Actions you can wind up being any flavor or combination of fighter, mage, crafter or harvester you choose. Develop a role and name it, that's your "class."

People especially with past game experience and who are used to having to pick classes gravitate towards certain dwellpoints on the role spectrum...but only by choice.

(Edit: the skill- and achievement-based "titles" you can choose to display to the world also lead to the impression that there are only certain tracks. That is an illusion.)
