Ok, so the wife and I have subscribed and realy like the game. We made it to level 45ish in melee and went to the Mainland.

Now, though, we are finding it very difficult to make money. it was never much of an issue on Noob island... always noobs to sell weapons and armor too, but not so on the mainland, understandable of course. So, how does a young couple new to the deserts make money?

Thanks

How much for the leetle girl ? :P

Naratuul hit it on the head though... there is little need for dappers really unless your buying gear. Digging/crafting/selling will make you wealthiest in Atys... Get to know the folks who play when you do, a direct buy can be less expensive and possibly of better quality then typically seen on the vendors.

Just find a good guild.
Money doesn't matter in this game for good guild.

yup, i started ryzom a month ago and got addicted. and after that time, i really noticed that the 'dig dig craft craft ' is THE way to make money, even if just sold at vendor.
i left Silan early, was lvl24 and 14 in forage. i tought that forage was boring.
and kinda useless. but now i cant stop, i dig, a loooooot, i craft what i dig, i sell all and now i can pay alone my huuge bills in tp tickets :D

Good guilds have a LOT of money with nothing to buy (at least on Aniro).
I have 34 millions and my guild more than 1 billion dappers and we doesn't do nothing with it because everyone exchange instead of buying with dappers.

if you beg by the stable.... someone will dapper you. Some random guy overheard me talking to this one person about me running low in cash, and he gave me 500,000 dappers.

I think the point Snake was trying to make was that those dappers were accumulated mainly by digging and crafting. Whether they are useful or not is another subject.

You can make lots of dapper-cash after some time in game, and without interesting money sinks (economy has been discussed in a lot of threads in the past) they tend to accumulate in the bag, BUT, when you start, money is tight and the best way is to dig (and eventually craft, although imho dig only is more profitable dapper-wise) to raise dapper fast. The first months trying to get a guild hall may be challenging. Good guilds had to earn that money some way.

About current in game wealth... well, I won't elaborate much here, but my cash figure has had ups a downs, mostly depending in my mood to dig. I've had insane amounts of cash (out of fake-humbleness just mention several hundreds of milions), but dappers aren't *that* useless, since soon after I needed to take a break from digging and craft only with mainly bought mats, I've seen the cash numbers go down fast, I used to buy hundreds of mats a day. Nowadays, I consider myself a wealthy homin (no secret here, no skill, just a lot of play hours) I just dig less and buy more, but I still thing economy needs to be reviewed.

Change economy? give dappers more value? Not an easy task... and made even harder just because of existing accumulated wealth... Who would agree to have dappers and mats wiped for the sake of a better economy? - let's start anew?- and then, how can the economy be improved if guilds have thousands of millions in the hall? if the economy changes, how can a newcomer compare to an existing rich homin?

A possible approach would be to slowly introduce another currency replacing dappers, with another scheme. (also, let me point out that the original idea of dappers "rotting" and losing value was, at least, very itneresting. although a few drawbacks). But anything that can be obtained easily would lead us to the same status (inflation). I would suggest interested reader to dig up threads about this :)
