Another idea for a new skill tree

I had an idea for a new skill tree based on becoming more skilled in diplomacy, sportspersonship, team playing etc.
Each person could be awarded skill points and as they increase in the tree they could gain new emotes. The ability to become an officer, high officer or guild leader could be based entirely on their level in this area (of course we could grandfather the current ones in) This will I think help to increase guild esteem. I think even entry to a guild should require a certain level in this new skill tree, perhaps this could be an 'intern' position.
The next level could be something like 'mentor' where you are able to share your skills and knowledge with newer players (something we already do all the time but this way it can be recognised and rewarded) Of course should a person really annoy you then you could give them a negative score, however I think this must have a personal cost to yourself to prevent people bullying others. That way you would really have to think about it before doing it. People who become the highest skilled in this tree will be seen as the wisest and most powerful in Atys.
I believe this will develop an increasingly rich social network and really encourage community working.
However thats as detailed as I've taken this idea. I don't have any idea what the skill tree could be called or how it could be further rewarded.
I think if you really know that your conduct on Atys could have a real affect on your progress then it might prevent people being horrid.
Oh by the way if this idea flies then can I say I am REALLY sorry to all the people I've pee'd off in the past (list is too long to mention!!!)

I don't see how that could work, for two reasons...
  • How do you measure social/diplomatic/helpful skills and general niceness into a numerical level system?
  • The instant you introduce rewards, people will do anything to attain them, including acting nastily. Thus, this is a paradox.

Hmmm maybe I didn't explain myself properly (smiles sweetly!) other players score on the number of social contacts you make etc...so its about your conduct with other players. so you could get a situation where another player says, "jolly good show old chap..heres a positve score for that decent team playing" (it works for ebay!!)
maybe a level limit for the number of ve+ scores you give out can prevent it being abused.
And as for people doing 'anything' to level even it means being nasty...do they??? really (smiles even more sweetly)

This would turn Atys into a popularity contest, led by the most fake and manipulative homins, while the genuinely nice in this community would have their motives called into question.

Shy people couldn't get into guilds.

Role play would be restricted to just playing 'nice' characters.

Speaking your mind could cost you skill levels.

There'd be all kinds of complaints because someone you helped didn't give you your points.

I would like to say exactly what I think of this idea, but I'd be terrified you would give me negative skill points ;) .

Sadly I must agree.

People would even give negative Scores just out of spite. :(
And there would be no fair way of controlling this system.

As nice as it could have been...

It would be very hard to make a system of human behavior, and to make a ruleset for it that gouverns the gaining and loosing of points in this system. It would be hard to keep simple and workable.

A simple system would be to easy to misuse, a more complex one not in the power of the developers.

While in a perfect world where everyone would rank honestly and fairly this would be feasable, saddly as others have stated we dont live in that kinda world and thus its not. I WOULD think that it would be interesting for them to add another skill branch or 2, but only after fixing/improving those already there such as range combat (i think they are planning on this). I would like to see monster training as my first pick for a new skill tree. Different taming/charm skills could be required for different species that could be upgraded to increase profficiency. Plus theres an endless amount of monster buffs that one could think of for other skills.
