Looting

Hi.. I'm new to the game and I have a quick question. How does looting works in a group? Does it go round robin? If not, then it's really sad coz it promotes greediness among group members. Is Ryzom doing something about this function?
Thanks!

Nope, the Game does nothing to prevent anyone to become ugly, greedy, or a ninjalooter. And I for myself think this is good.
If people aren´t fit to share fair loot then maybe they´ll learn if most of the community does not like them sooner or later.
If somebody claims all the loot for him/herself, well then let this person play all by himself. There are surely other players who are more mature and friendly out there

And theres enough loot for anybody. Except in those Event Bosses atm. But please let us lot elaborate on this here.
CU and welcome to Ayts

there is no greediness, everyone shares.
the fact there isnt a looting system but its left up to the players speaks volumes

A looting system is usually not needed because the game takes time and we're all dependant on eachother in the long run. It's a great system against ninjalooting.
However the Tryker title was ninja'd because it was easy to hide when there was 50 players in the area. And maybe an option for looting announcement would prevent that: "NinjalooterX rips 5 basic Yubo eyes from the corpse" or something.

It would be a lot more team friendly if the game would give you options for auto loot distribution. I hate having to decide who should get what, or agreeing on loot orders, or all those irritating details. Not to mention the healer who gets completely left out because they had to log to deal with a baby issue.
But it saves coding time not to put features like this in. Carry on.

*shudders at thought of an auto loot system* i don't have the space!
the neccesity (sp?) to share and decide who gets what makes the comunity stronger imo. It promotes teamwork and understanding between players. i had a situation the other day when a guildy was hunting with somone who was looting all the mobs that was being killed since 'they did all the damage'. i suggested they stopped healing meaning they would have got mroe xp. suffice to say the ninja learned the hard way pretty fast the need for teamwork

Actually I've played the games with auto looting and it's really not so bad *smiles*....but for agame like EQ or such....it attracts all kinds of folks. And I remember back in the day kicking people from my group for being greedy (they always got warned first).
But with Ryzom, it's different on so many levels. The world doesn't revolve around the almighty dapper (gold). If your in a group that is doing these things...say something...they keep it up....kick em out. You still have the power to do such things. If this were to happen to me (which I've been here for two months and hasn't happened to me yet) then I'd probably wander off to solo for a bit...or join some other people for a bit.

That's an awesome idea!

It was very nice to see how peacefully, orderly and fairly loot distribution was handled at the latest two exterminator hunts. Wonderful example of the community.

Being a person who has healed in and out of teams, I have never been left out as far as loot as been concerned. When in a team with another healer, I make sure the healer is never left out since I know without them, the xp and loot would be alot slower. I'm sure this applies to alot other people...in Ryzom, we appreciate our healers.
