Windermeer peak population

I mentioned this in another thread but wanted to gain some more feedback on it. In zora I will often do a /who and find there are less than 10 people in the capitol region. Our guild makes up the vast majority of the Zorai and we are only 40 someodd people. From this I would guess there are at peak seldom more than 50 people in the entire zorai area at any given time. Even if other regions have many times the population that zora has, it still seems unlikely that there are more than 500 or so people on the entire server at any moment. This seems like an incredibly low population, Medievia, a text based mud has more people. Also seems I am constantly seeing the same people. I have not seen any numbers on their sales, but it seems like they couldnt have sold more than a few thousand copies in the US. Not entirely surprising being as I had to go on a quest just to find the game. Anyway, im curious what people are seeing in other racial areas.

There are a lot more then that in Matis/Fyros areas. Zorai is not popular I think, I personally do not want to play one because of those silly masks. =P I think many people share my feelings on this one. I tried to make one, but just couldn't get something I liked out of the character design step, same with Trykers. I'm going to bet 80 or 90% of the population is Matis/Fyros.
It's true though that the game population is disturbingly low, I think the main reason of this is that nobody has even heard of the game, advertising is not being done well. This may be by intention, maybe they want a low pop for now, just enough to keep the dev team paid while they iron out the rest of the bugs. Probably just wishful thinking on my part.

I never notice more than 20 in Tryker. Then again, I'm on the west coast, playing at 9:00pm. Seems as if the majority of players are East Coast.

Funny - the Zorai's mask is one of the reasons I play them - I think they look great.

And that is the beauty of variety

One of the reasons I picked the Zorai's. First time I saw them I thought they were neat looking and decided thats who I'd play as.

Agreed on the Zorai masks... If anything, I think they are the most distinctive PCs going. The chances of running into a Zorai with a mask with the identical setup to yours is almost nill. They are so distinctive in a group of 8 you could easily recognize people by memory if you turned names off.
That said, I went Fyros

Dont kid yourself, on the zora land we are lot more than 50 and i see many new faces coming to mainland everyday. Personally most people are advancing out of the city and now in maidens, umbra and many other places.
I was worried about the population but let me tell you that people are coming in every day.
I remember EQ we were like a steady 500 people on the server since they gave the pop totals when we logged in, just a year later we reached 2200. Point being this game is growing, but lots are still on newb lands since the game is so rich in content as to what skills to play what class etc.
give it another 2 weeks and it will be a surprise. We will miss the empty server days.

I play Zorai, the main reason being that a friend and I prefer that there are less people. I suppose right now it seems like everything is pretty empty because there's endless herds of untouched animals. I like that feeling of being on the frontier though! I don't know how the more populated servers are but camping has always been a problem in MMO's though Ryzom seemed to fix that by just giving you a horde of mobs to kill.
Anyways, since I'm trying to detract you jerks from coming to my lands (not my fellows who are already there), I'll mention something I noticed. I sounds immature...but hey I'm a geek playing vids aren't I?
I walked over to the raw mat merchant once in the fyros beginner island and noticed that the other four characters there were all the smallest possible format of female charater with the largest bustline possible. Zorai are taller and skinnier in their limbs overall and their bust isn't very large. So I figured I'd get a more mature crowd of people to play with.
How many of you have experienced 'drama' from greedy peeps on other games? In DAOC that happened with the random drop system a lot, and on this mud I played...(the original text MMORPGS!!!!). Granted there will still be some jerks around but I really think I minimized my chances of encountering them. I miss the sweeping deserts of Fyros though...and the different landscapes and animals. I've got a job and things going on in life though so it'll prolly take my 6 months to get there on my current charcter, unless they implement those racial differences for me to explore before that!

That's my feeling also. I chose Zorai both because I liked the masks and also thought there'd be less people. I also liked the fact that they're true to the Kami and distrust the Karavan.
