Last night I went to the fighter trainer (on starter island) because I had some skill points to spend. But looking at some of the items available, it only really tells you the most basic information about it. Is there anyplace where these are documented more fully, and lists cases where it'd be useful and how to use?

There were a few that just didn't make much sense to me, as a newb. I didn't end up getting anything because I didn't really understand what it did, or how'd I use it.

This is also true of the stanzas...

And before anybody asks which ones specifically, I don't really know as of right now and can't sign on to re-look up their names. So in a more general sense, is there soem online source to be used to read up on, and learn about all the various skills in all the skill trees?

The Ryzom Database site (at http://ryzom.raum.com/) doesn't seem to document skills, although it documents mostly everything else...

[EDIT] I just tried accessing it again, and actually got in. But there's still no verbose information on the skills. I've opened the skill tree, and see all the skills, but there's no additional detail for what these skills are, how they're used, and what they're used for...

Well, it's pretty complex, and more of them can be understand by game experience. But I can give you a guideline, from what I learn in the starters island. I see you are in free trial, so you have level low than 21:

-Pick first of all the enhances to characteristics (Constitution, strengh, intelligence, and al of them). It's the main source of power.

-Usually you can ignore the complex or specific instances (Attack after parry, and like). Focus yourself in the more evident; it use to be the more useful (Increase damage, accurate attack, etc...)

-For a particular answer: search the forums (The complex stanzas used to be explained in some thread) or simply ask the universe channel; the people use to answer pretty well.

But, as far as I've searched the same that you, there aren't a repository with all the stanzas and enhances explained and development.

Oh! and don't be afraid to pick a stanza that you aren't sure. The worst thing that can happen is that you'll lost 10 points in a temporary useless stanza, but that's nothing. It will not damage the development of your PC, not at this level.

You might also get additional info using your "A" screen, it will show you what you may be able to upgrade. Some skills/bricks will give additional info by right clicking the skill "inside" the info window.
