Hello hello...

Patched and patched, and now first stuck foot in the starter area on free trial. Gotta say, the look and mood of the place seems to me I will like this very much.
Started a Zorai on Arist...I forget the name of the server, her name is Ashah.
(I had the glitch of nVidia drivers defaulting to OpenGL and giving about half of everything white texture, following a sticky about it in the tech help forum and switching the config to Direct3D fixed me right up.)
I had to log without doing much but fiddle with key settings and things, but the graphics, music, and all very much remind me of Anarchy Online (sci fi mmorpg) in the sense of wide open spaces, georgeous skies and a feel of being "there."
I'm amused to observe that the day and night cycle seem to be determined by when the local star passes behind a root would seem to me then that day and night vary in length quite a bit?
Anyhow, it looks great, spent a lot of time in the character creation reading on the 4 races and playing with appearance. This is going to be fun
(also liking that at least at first, even with a lot of other refugees and buildings and npcs around, I have the settings all the way up at 1600x1200 and it plays well. Though I have read some comments that the graphical demands of the mainland are higher. I always like to turn it all the way up then scale back if needed.)
