Social aggro question - pulling

If there is a group of social aggros, say 50 metres away, and I used a long range acid spell or similar to pull them to a vacant area, would only one mob come or do they kinda join in and you end up pulling a group?
Sorry for the basic question - havent got a ranged attack to test atm.

Depends on the mob, all yubos and lowlvl other mobs are not social aggro, others are. From those you usually pull severals when they are standing close to each other. The distance between mobs to help each other varies, too, some have a longer range, some a shorter.

The IMO safest way to pull a mob out of a group is to fear it (don't hold the spell). This aggros it, but does not activate the social aggro of nearby mobs so you can let it follow you to a safe location.

Taunt allows for single pulling as well if my experiences can be trusted. Or perhaps the social aggro groups I tried it on had the mobs standing just far enough from each other to not attract aggro from more than the target.
So no guarantees here :) - my experiences may have been off.

Shrike - to break the fear spell does sitting work - otherwise its difficult to land a nuke from a distance in lag - sometimes mob takes off and doesnt come back for ages :)

It is enough that you move a little or to start casting another spell and interupt it with CTRL + S

Be carefull where you fight some different races help each other too!! Plans dont help any other race as it look like for now so you can be in middle of field without problem BUT if you accidently click on then ahmmm...

I was under the impression that a feared mob would attract social aggro from its peers who were near enough to him. I have little experience of fear though, since I am primarily a tank, but I have seen a mage cast fear on a kipee our group was fighting and the kip legged it away and brought back another one, which meant party wipeout.

I primarily use taunt as a pulling mechanism. It seems very good at picking a scowling gingo from a pack of gingos without drawing the others. Just wish its range was a bit longer, because my taunt range and the natural aggro range of gingos seem to be very close to each other.

Fear alone attracts no social aggro, a damaged mob does. If you cast fear on a mob who has previously been attacked with weapons or elemental/off. affliction spells he can get some fellows following him. But, as said, not because fear, but because he has been attacked. Fear alone does not count as attack for his fellow mobs.

Ahh thanks for the clarification Shrike. So pulling with fear is ok, but if you've been battling something and then fear it through its mates, look out. Good to know.

If it's a non-aggro mob you can also "pull" by just going up to a mob - waiting until it looks at you then moving back. It's surprising how many curious mobs will follow you away from the herd!

A gruop I was with were successfully using this method on Raspals a day or so ago :) .
