The confusion and lack of info over Ryzom Ring

Today on mmorpg there was a discussion where a player was looking for a new mmorpg. In that discussion two comments were made that really struck a nerve:

"Unfortunately since SWG was turned into candyland online there really isn't another sandbox out there."
And
"Really. I didn't know Ryzom Ring was out yet? If I'm not mistaken, EVE has had player created missions for ohhhh idk.... 3yrs now?"

These were posted by two different people. These aren't isolated statements either. I can't but help think Nevrax needs to do a MUCH better job to get the information out there concerning the Ring. I really don't think people are getting the concept.

So this is my plea to the people marketing the game... come up with some better way to get the message out, it's not working the way you are doing it now!

tried to locate that post, but failed, well, he's very much mistaken. eve doesn't have anything close to that and is just now getting something that is REMOTELY similar (contracts).

I found it by accident, because i was BoW and couldnt leave to home yet.
Raynes and me helped a bit to promote the ring.

It's a step up and a replacement for the escrow system in eve. Very remote indeed :)

As much as I agree with your whole post, I will remind you that just because folks post on the internet doesn't mean they have done any research.

How many times in Universe channel have you seen "Can we have pets", "Are there racial differences", "Do we have only one kind of mount", etc etc... This from people that took the time to download several gigs of files and configure their system to play.

Food for thought...

Woot? you saying i can only have one type of pet?

:P

But its funny, the same webpage where that is written (OP subject) is also the one that "told" me about ryzom and the ring...

One way to make publicity would be to ask all those newsgroups about games and games magazines to review it (and advertise they had reviewd it).

besides that, what more can you do than fancy banners?

Maybe we as a community can do more too. Spreading the Ryzom gospel. After all Ryzom had to rely on word of mouth for 2 years.
