Winter Waters

The sun had turned the shifting waters of the lake into a shimmering sheet of undulating sapphire, its light reflecting languidly over the easy waves. It was the middle of winter, but you'd never know it if you had never seen winter in the sub-tropical lakes that were now home to the Trykers.

A lone figure sat on the an empty beach, a large lor-flence sword laid down beside him on the cool white sands. Tall for a Tryker and always seeming to prefer his own company, Rayn had always been considered somewhat of an oddity by his family and friends, but they had all been taken by the kitin and he remained, partly in thanks to his solitary nature.

He stared our solemnly over the bright waters, his brownish-red eyes reflecting some remnants of the light reflected from the sun, second-hand illumination that, if anyone had been around to notice, would have made him seem almost ethereal or out of place amongst the crudely living and breathing world of Atys.

With a sigh, he laid back, resting his head on his upturned palms. It had been a hectic few weeks, organizing everything for the guild, scouting out an island upon which they might be able to hold their meetings, training with his sword and learning how to improve his crafting...

"...I feel worn out." he muttered to himself as the breeze picked up. "I wonder if im doing the right thing Mom, Dad..."

With a sad smile, the lone Tryker stared up at the sky as the clouds began to gather and snow began to fall. There was something oddly soothing about watching the delicate white flakes fall softly onto the leaves of the palmtrees nearby. It eased his mind.
