Thinking of playing..

Just had a couple questions while I am downloading the free trial. From what I have read you level by raising skills and then buying upgrades from trainers, yes? Can you respec or is there no total skill level cap and respecing doesn't matter? If there is no level cap wouldn't that give rise to powerlevelers being ungodly powerful if they maxed a bunch of skills? Just trying to get a feel of how this game works before I jump in so I know if something like a warrior mage is possible or if there restrictions on armor and magic and what not. Forgive the rambling and any help would be appreciated, thanks for your time.

Yeah you level up the skill you want to work on and as you go up in levels you gain points to spend training... and then you continue on leveling with these new upgrades/skills/etc...

You can level anything you want, theres no class system and the level cap is 250.

:)

Now when you say the level cap is 250 does that mean you have 250 skill levels to spread around or 250 is the cap for fighting, magic, et cetra and you can max anything and everything if you never slept for a few years?

The 250 cap is on each individual skill.

A character with multiple skills isn't ungodly powerful because you are limited based on what you have equipped at the moment. A character with 250 in a magic skill and 250 in a melee skill would have more hits than a character with 250 magic and only 100 melee, but couldn't be effectively both cast spells and melee without re-equipping. Re-equipping a weapon takes time and changing armor takes about as long as a fight may last.

The beauty of this system is that, since most characters have a mix of combat skills, there's no waiting around for a character to fill a specific role in the group, e.g. "My cousin should logs-in in an hour or so, then I'll see if he'll play his healer, and we can go hunt."
