Friday Patching and Rollback

Hi guys

As you will have noticed we patched this morning (yay for 6am patches). However, an issue has occured where players were logging in to find themselves dead and suffering from a death penalty. This issue has been resolved and the fix is being patched in as we speak. The shards will be up fairly shortly and all will be well. However to be fair to those who have suffered a death penalty through no fault of their own we are going to rollback the characters to how they were immediately before this patch. This should resolve all the issues.

Thanks for your patience

Keep the faith
Souls

Tbh Soul's, I would rather a DP that I can clear in 3 minutes, than the loss of what I gained in the 30 mins after patch. I don't know if there were any other bugs, but 1 DP doesn't seem like cause for a rollback. But I don't know the ins and outs of everything.

Faith slipping after 2 years.

Most people, myself included, would not be very chuffed to log in to find ourselves with several hundred thousand DP for no reason.

Well done Souls. Keep up the good work.

So this means I lose two levels cos of a bit of DP, am I correct in thinking this?!?

Because a few people lose XP from DP, every body else has to lose XP they gaind from grinding? This is crazy!

i dont believe that for a minute. im new here, but in every other game ive played, no matter what they did, they would have gotten flamed. if people logged in to find dp's, they would have flamed. if they rolled back to not give dp's, they get flamed. this is probably the least hurtful to the most players which probably drove their decision. as far as the ones who rushed to dig up mats or get xp, havent there been rollbacks in the past? or at least the possibility of one? in the other game i play the rule is dont rush out after a patch ,let things settle. its nice to hear that the players in this game have so much faith in the company and its software writing abilities that they are willing to do this, and then be surprised by a rollback. i WISH i had that much faith in the other game.

Yes, apparently, however, some people have loads of DP already, and technically, it isn't fair for them to be punished for something they didn't do.

*Makes a mental note about the classic SWG's and its weekly unannounced rollbacks of hours*

Ryzom rarely has a rollback. Infact, I can't really recall one lmao

then i am truly impressed, and the players of the game are truly spoiled. EVERY patch or update in the other game has had another patch about 3-4 hours behind it. my hats off to ryzom.

Well, I don't really come from playing this, that, and the other MMO, playing backround like almost everyone else. I found this game in the bargain bin 2 years ago and liked the picture on the back. Only realised it was online only after reading it a bit more carefully, then left it on the shelf for a couple months.

After making myself sound a little bit dim there, my point is, no I have not experienced hardly any rollbacks here and this one is a bit of a shock.
