Fullscreen issues

I Honestly prefer to play the game in full scren however i can not for some unknown reason the game overrides my personal preferences(in full screen) and game is way to dark to play during the evenings on atys. Following recommendations I play windowed mode which i totally detest and have no "too dark" issues 99 percent of the time however this is not a soution i find acceptable. This is what i see when logging into the game in full screen mode. At log in normal brightness, then game progresses normally as soon as game shifts from windowed mode to full screen mode game goes extremely dark and remains so the rest of the way into game. once in game if i "jiggle" the luminence slide bar i can get a "flair" of brightness and game seems to recognise my personal preferences for brightness, this however still makes night times too dark for me to do anything. This does not occur if i play windowed mode at all.
I have tried several different ATI drivers and they did not affect/change the problem any.

That does sound like OpenGL, try switching to Direct3D in the configuration tool (no autoselect either). It's way better with ATI cards anyway

Have you tried different refresh rates? And tweaking the various windows display adapter settings?
Too dark could also be a dieing CRT monitor. I used to have the same problem in many games until I bought myself a new monitor.

It really can't be a dying monitor if he's getting brighter images in windowed mode than in fullscreen on the same app (Ryzom). If it were a monitor issue the windowed/fullscreen toggle should show no real difference.
It sounds like you need to up the gamma in fullscreen mode. Not sure if Ryzom provides an option for that inside the game (I'm at work so I can't check). But try upping that and see what happens.
My guess is, in windowed mode, the gamma setting for windows over-rides whatever Ryzom is putting out. In fullscreen mode, Ryzom's gamma takes over. I have had this happen in other games. On my old CRT monitor in Windows I had the gamma set on (say) 1.5. In SWG, everything seemed dark (fullscreen mode). After some fiddling I realized that SWG was set to Gamma=1.0 in fullscreen and ignoring my Windows settings. When I manually set it up to 1.5 in SWG (actually it was down to 0.5 since it had the gamma meter reversed, I believe), it fixed the problem.
So, see if you can adjust the Ryzom gamma setting.

Adjusting gamma and/or luminescence only works for that particular instance once i log out and log back in although my personal preferences have been saved do not work. once i am in game if i litterally go to controls and jiggle the luminesence control, does the game seem to recognise my personal settings. as i have stated before during the initial loading screens before game goes into full screen mode my settins are good only after it re-draws screen to go into full screen mode that my personal preferences seem to be overridden.
