Is there a way for me to copy Ryzom onto a DVD, so if I needed to reinstall, rather than use my original release copy, I could reinstall from a DVD containing the client in its current up to date form?

Thanks :)

copy the ryzom folder to a dvd, and just move it back if you ever need to.

Sure, just make a Data Copy of your current Ryzom Folder. It needs no "installing" as you surely know, so I guess you can just put it on CD/DVD without any problem. :)

Okay, I´m not that into Sorftware but I think it should work.

Or download the torrent installer, and burn that to DVD.

It would be nice if Nevrax could keep an up to date installer with Ryzom at special Milestones (like the Ring :) ) and even have the possibility to press a nice DVD and send it to players that request it, for a fee.

I had a few issues patching 2 days ago, to the point that the patcher kept on crashing (ryzom has made an illegal blah bvlah, do you like to send report?) systematically, tried the std procedure as removing the unpack, running ryzom recover (got an assertion nel window saying it could not unzip the ryzom_client_rd.exe.gz) and I am considering redownloading the full installer. Unfortunately a 1.X Gb download can not be easy (few seeds in torrent, problems and stalled connections with direct download, lack of md5 sums? plus a crappy cable ISP that loses link every now and then, etc.). I would have paid happily a few euros for a 2 day "up to date" DVD pressing and shipping :)

Otherwise, if I am not mistaken, *if* I manage to download June installer, I still need to get a few hundreds of megs of patches. Also, it seems to me that if a "patch" is made of 3 or 4 files and the patch procedure fails at the third, it redownloads the first two again ( :? )

Point of clarity: Ryzom is completely self-contained in it's own directory.
IMO this is an extremely admirable and dignified way to to do things.

so what they said
So once you have patched for the ring, if you burn that whole folder to a DVD, well then you would have an install DVD.
