Isnt easy for a noob

first off sry for seemingly repeated threads if it bothers anyone, just trying to figure out the game which i cant seem to do =/
Well ive got into a guild a few days ago, nice bunch, but still not sure what I do now. im far to low in skills to do anything useful for them, they're up in the 100's and such and waay out in the world. I have learned some from them though.
Is it normal for one to find it hard to find a group? Im in the imperial dunes atm and cant get much farther than that, so i cant really group with my guild =/ I ask in region chat as well, but usually no one responds, and since i only have 2-3 hours a day after school for free time, i dont get very far without one...and the few times i have had one, i had no idea what targets to hunt, or what was aggressive/linked and what-not, thus my group was not impressed with me....
Also on harvesting, i absolutely cannot find any mat's to make somthing. Ill harvest lots of jewel/magic focus thingys from already exposed nodes, but when i go out prospecting i can never ever find a spot thats the quality i can search for *fine and basic*. Does anyone know where and how i can find a spot i can harvest around pyr?

If you right click on your target window (T) and hit 'help' it'll come up with a table describing the colour system. Alot of life on Atys is live and learn, but thats partly what keeps it interesting after you've gotten the hang of it. It can all be a bit much to start but stick with it a bit and you'll prolly start to enjoy it more.
http://www.ballisticmystix.com also has an xp calculator which lists mobs around you/your teams level. (Note the site is often down these days but is a great resource and worth checking on sometimes)
Hopefully you can get your guild to trek you around to different regions and even lands so you'll have more hunting grounds and group options.
As for harvesting, again with the guild help... or grab hold of a higher level forager to track some sources for you.

er i would love to go on a trek they sound awesome...
but i mean, how do i ask my guild that? Do i just "hey i want to trek" sort of thing, cause i really dont know where or why i would go anywhere else from pyr. even on a trek their is no real progression *imo* right? I get access to new towns, new areas/sights etc, but after that i cant do anything there atm =/
also im not sure how exactly i can get in contact with others who would actually be willing to help me, i mean most people are busy doing their own thing/grouped or somthing *im my guild at least* so i end up having to solo with what little time i have =(

Well I suggested trekking I mean go to other areas still around your level, gives you more opportunity to find somebody to group with. (same kinda things in each lands yeah, but another location)
A polite request should be ok, no? Ofcourse sometimes people are busy but hopefully somebody could take the time to give you a hand at some point.

Even as a total noob you should be able to join in on hunts as a healer. The very first heal spell is enough to help keep the primary healer topped up. That was one of the things I loved the most about starting in Ryzom - that I could join in on hunts with high level guildmates and actually do something useful!

Well, I would suggest that you ask your guild (everyone should have time to help new folks, even if it's not "right now")... If there is no response TBH I would consider whether I picked the right guild.

I aggree, your guild SHOULD be taking care of you and if they are not, it may be time to move on. I would ask them for some help and you may be surprised to find out that may have been what you needed to do all along. If you want to trek to anothter land and can't find anyone to help ya, send me a tell /tell bones and I'll see what I can do. Love to trek and help Homins
Enjoy

Aw.. no need to feel discouraged!
Feel free to give me a /tell in-game if I am on, even though I do not have much skills with low levels, I would be glad to help a new homin - even if out of team *^.^*

Doubletap and Bones are correct. If you find no support from your guild, perhaps you're in the wrong guild. However, do remember that everything cannot always be instant. But don't be afraid to poke people to remind them!
And I would like to join Bones' request -- Myself, and the rest of OmegaV would be happy to help you around, I'm sure.
