Outpost confusion

Maybe I am a little simple in this subject, but WHO dictates the OP battles and control.
I see OP agreements discussed on these Forums, I am aware of the PvP content ingame, and I understand the Kami and Karavan factions.
But I fail to understand where I am to stake my interest in the Outpost 'ownership'.
Roleplay ingame politics takes priority over the forum ?
The Forum agreements take priority over PvP challenges ?
PvP faction attacking 'ad lib' is accepted ?
Quite simply I do not know what approach is 'expected' from me !!!....maybe I will simply be a maverick and add another aspect to this 'confusion' ?
Can somebody please clarify the 'accepted' majority (if one exists) approach to OP ownership disputes.

Um, well basicaly what Outposts have degenerated to is Faction War.
you have your Kami faction, Karavan Faction, Neutrals, and as we've seen in the last couple threads, 'other' (kami or karavan not part of the 'extremes')
sooo, for the most part, if you are a karavan guild, and are attacking a Kami guild, all the kamis will come at you and start bonking heads. same for vice versa.
a kami guild attacking a kami guild is considered a 'shocking attack' and is not too common (or kara vs kara)
neutrals and 'others' attack whomever it happens to be beneficial to attack (or whatever reason they can justify it by)
personally - our guild bieng neutral decided to just _SELL_ our Outpost and be done with it - whats happend since then will take a _long_ time to relate, and i dont think you can get that information from the forums anymore - was so heated i think they removed the thread O.o
-so yea, thats what your 'expected' to follow in a nutshell- i can only pray the new players will be able to balance things out and break us out of this shell - and we can see kami vs kami or kara vs kara etc and all in good fun.
then i tell myself 'keep dreaming' *sigh*

Thankyou for the response Kuroari.
I am aware the OP PvP was implemented at about the same time I arrived and I don't want to drag up past incidents.
I am aware I am asking for OPINION on an emotive subject, I want to participate in all aspects of Ryzom to some extent, but don't want to 'tread on toes' through ignorance of etiquette.

Do what you feel comfortable doing. Some OP game styles can coexist, some aparently not. I think your lucky, being quite new you can look apon the whole situation without too much interference/prejudice. Perhaps sit back for a while, read up on past events, watch furture events and decide.
I'm happy with where I am, for me being around my friends, people who get on well together and who have the same/similar thoughts and beliefs as I do is whats most important.
It's been said and will continue to be said that me and my friends are inconsiderate of other peoples gamestyles etc but so many of them are such hypocritical whingebags that don't seem to realise they are attempting to force their own game styles on us just as much and imo more so than we are on them. The current situation/climate is also heavily effected by previous & ongoing antisocial behavior and grief from certain players imo and the lack of punishments given.
This game, its community and CSR team gets alot of praise and quite rightly so for the most part but there are still plenty of incidents the go by which are incorrectly delt with, not delt with enough depth or some that are not even bothered with at all because some people have lost faith in the system. It isn't easy to assign blame to specific people (other than the griefers themselves) theres a mix of holes in the system including CSR error and lack of tools/power/policy available to deal with them.
Anyway, thats all going off in to what should perhaps be another discussion but I hope it helped a little with you question.
// I also hope any other responces to this thread can also just be personal opinions that just try to answer the guys question

I know My personal approach to the OP ownership will be ingame roleplay.
I am sure many of us have enough conflict/stress in our real lives that forum wars are never welcome, this is why I personally dislike (but will tolerate/accept) the 'open' forum approach to ingame events.
Again thankyou for your input Ajsuk.

This has many facets really... there isn't a consistancy on things. Some use SoR forums to try and sway folks (There are currently 13 pages in this thread concerning an attack "I" made and I have not posted in it)...
It can be one of many factors that determine when/why an OP battle goes down. The analysis can be hilarious in the forums... use of time can be a tactic surely but when ya just want to fight you click on the OP and take the time listed which is what I did. Battles can take place for personal/religious/boredom and other reasons... In the end it's guild vs. guild and who they bring as allies. If things were as faction aligned as some want everyone to think, I would not be fighting other Karavaneers all the time.
Don't try and understand it, because it changes... roll with it and jump in where ya want. Remember that you will be judged based on your actions tho... Be sure your having fun
