I've noticed there is a way to get casting time credit. So, it's possible to slow down a spell and gain credit. But a spell with no casting time credit still has a casting time.

Is there a way to add a casting time stanza to speed up casting time?

Better Amps with a higher percentage on the cast speed for that class of spells.

EXAMPLE:

Cast speed for your heal stanza is 4 seconds without amps on.

You equip your 100% heal cast speed amps, and the cast speed is 2 seconds.
You equip your 50% heal cast speed amps, and the cast speed is 3 seconds.

Power is similar but it multiplies instead of dividing.

Note if you have anything equiped that introduces Malus then the time to cast increases due to that. i.e. casting a spell in medium or heavy armor or while holding a melee weapon.

Okay, I think I get it.

So there's no way to create an action with a faster cast time, you have to do so through equipment.

Nope, you canĀ“t cast a spell before you finish its incantation :D ;) :p
Would look a bit strange methinks. ;)

The time to cast will only increae due to malus if you're using time credits. You can wear full heavy armor and still cast full speed if you don't use time credits at all.

Range however decreases regardless.

Does the same hold true with Malus' effect on sap usage?

Err, yes, I think. Sap (or HP or stam) consumption will only increase if you're actually using those credits.

If your action uses 50 HP, 50 sap no time credits
And you have 100% malus
You'll use 100 HP 100 sap but still cast at full speed

If your action uses 100 HP and no sap
You'll use 200 HP to cast it

etc

It seems odd that range wouldn't work the same way.

It would not seem odd to me (even though im not sure quite which thing your referring to), every action has a fixed amount of time that it takes to be done as a mininum before various factors come into play to well increase or decrease the time it takes.

As for the cost in credit increasing thats very simply why it would work the same, if your characters wearing heavy armour then every action from casting to melee to ranged would take more effort to do and therefore cost more credit.
