Me and my HO Kimsh have been working on a guild site that we're also adding a few lil various things too, I've been trying to think of things that aren't allready out there on BM and other sites and I've made a little list of things I want to put up there if we find out how (likely to be Kimsh finding it out, poor fellow, I'm making him way over worked with all my ideas). So eventually we'll propably have some nice stuff up there :)

Wich leads me to my questions :D

What things would ye like to see on a ryzom fansite/resource site? Any suggestions are welcomed ;)

Is it easy to do? :p

Can ye help us with any tips and pointers?

Can ye help us in doing it? :o

*hugs from lil me* ^_^

My suggestion (easy to suggest when one is not doing the work...) if we assume that you may not have a horde of web developers :P would be an approach where the fan-site specializes in a concrete aspect. From a selfish, customer, viewer point of view :*) , I would rather have single websites that are awesome resources in a particular field, rather than overlapping "yet another mat resource database" (sorry if I sound harsh, not my intention, of course it's your work and your call) and avoid without having lots of similar, redundant web sites.

In this sense, imho, a given fansite could be:
* a good resource for Ryzom artwork (e.g. Acridiel's one)
* a good resource for new players helpful information (e.g. Melinoe, etc.)
* a good resource for minmaxing (mobs resistance, craft formulas, harvesting formulas, XP calculators, etc.)
* a good resource for specialization (e.g. final web on ranged fighting, tips and tricks)

A new fansite would need to find it's "niche" (e.g. imagine doing something like Raku / Oshi dressroom if it not existed), and grow if appropriate. In other words, if one can evaluate the effort it takes to create and mantain a fansite, is it better to be a jack of all trades or to excel in one aspect? Of course, it is possible to have a fansite with lots of information e.g. Ballistic is an awesome resource for : NPC finder, mat database, map locations, etc. but also the work involved is huge, and the skills required too...

A few suggestions (in no particular order, and not implying preference for any, use-it-at-your-own-risk-will)
- Compedium of FAQs and guides for new players, answering the most common questions asked in Universe chat.
- Detailed gameplay aspects and numerical minmaxing: resistances, craft xp calculation, harvest xp calculation, harvesting options and so on), precraft and post-craft values and calculations,
- Compedium of craft recipees (100/100 weapons, 97 amps, +2 dodge LAs, +3 parry HAs.
- Leveling guides (why not, some players may want them)
- Screenshots of Atysian items, weapons,

Yepp, I don't want yet another site with information that is already out there, that's why I'm asking here, what you'd all like to see, and we can do that thoroughly instead of redoing something that has already been done ^_^

I've allready started working on a Weapon gallery, gathering screenshots and things ;) It'll take some time though :P

a calculator that allows you to see post craft what the stats will be.

ie speed damage durability etc

I only know of one in existence that calulates item crafts.. and it dont work perfectly :P
all the wierd boosts for amps and stuff would be the problem.

The hard part is figuring out what pre-craft values mats will give when you drop them in the slots. If you have the pre-craft values, calculating post craft isn't hard, but could be helpful.

Yep agreed and im sure all this parts of the calc work fairly well..
Problem is... (*for example)

Why does adriel bark boost supreme zun in HQ amps??
How is this measured and how does it fit into the mathematical formula?

Im sure this applies to other items other than amps..
But yep its a Great idea.. could be a bit of a spoiler though couldn't it?

I don't expect a craft calculator that gives you stats (pre or post) from mats... like, ever.

I thought the pre-craft to post-craft was all that was implied.

The only crafting sim I know of got things slightly right, but (particularly with amps) used a slightly wrong forumla. Someone else started working on a correction but went on a huge break from game so I doubt he continued past the first coupla spreadsheets.

Yep that is a good idea..
Can be easily done..
Cant remember the formula off the top of my head .. but i know Sash will ;)

Perhaps she can enlighten us :D
