1. Is the game still as empty as it was back then?
The towns seemed to desolate, it was kinda boring.
2. Also, is there still no music?
Im still downloading the client, but it will take a few days.

There never was "no music." There's music at the entrance to each capital city, during teleportation, during initial loading, and while comatose.
Also, there is an in-game MP3 Player that allows you to load and play your own music.

Ruins of Silan is almost too crowded. On the mainland, Yrkanis is alright, though some might find it a bit "empty" sometimes. Usually there's 3-15 gathered at the stable, several in the market, a couple at the trainers, a gaggle around the Karavan teleporter, and a few outside the northernmost guild tree. I'm not sure about the state of the rest of the towns.
As for the game being empty, it does have a small population, but the emptiness is mostly an illusion. Atys is a vast place, even though supposedly only 5% of the planet's surface is accessible. Most players are scattered in higher-level regions hunting, harvesting, or simply goofing off.

Yeh sounds like the same as i remember.
The music in the game lasts for about 15 seconds, lol. I like a nice long repeatable track to be playing so i can play with it.
Thats one thing that turned me away from Ryzom initially.
Sounds like it might be a bit more populated now.
However, im in an obscure timezone and most americans are asleep.. So i was lucky to see 1 or 2 other people when i played.
Kinda took the point out of MMORPG.. might aswel just pay a one-off fee for non online game.
I'll still give my trial a go, see how it goes.

Doesn't matter if the Americans ARE asleep, there are more Europeans playing this game than Americans. It's a Euro game.
The game definitely has a larger population than before, particularly on the starter island. On the mainland it really does depend where you go.

I prefer the environmental sound over continuous music tracks in the background, especially when I can hear that a kincher or a zerx following me, and tries to kill me. So I can concentrate on the path in front while running, and can hear, when the creature following me decides, that I'm too hard to catch

no music please!!!
I cant think of any more horror than not being able to hear the kincher coming because of some stupid ambient music

Welcome back, and you may just use the build in mp3 player to play whatever Music you like to hear. Or Winamp, or somesuch if your system can handle.
I do it all the time, but with the volume turned quite low so I can still hear whats going on around me InGame, just to have bit of background music.
Works fine for me.
Music can be found on the Main page, or on mine if you like.
