Some newbie melee questions.

Just tried the game out over the weekend. Had a great time doing the magic stuff. Trying out the melee stuff now, but i have a few questions.

- Increase damage 1, increase damage 2 mention that they are effective for a specific weapon level. What does that mean? When i look at the info for a sword it does not appear to have a level mentioned.

- shields have this percentage blocking thing, does this stack on top of the percentage for your regular armor?, replace it? or what?

- Malus from a melee characters perspective. Ive heard it increases stamina usage. How exactly does it do this? When you use an attack power that costs 10 stamina, you might be charged more if you are in heavy armor?

- Dual wield, when you use an attack power, does it affect the mainhand weapon only? or both?

Point 1: The lvl of the weapon is the little number in the lower right hand corner of the icon for the weapon. Note, some skills refer to the lvl of the weapon, whilst others refer to your skill lvl in that weapon. So you might be using a lvl 40 sword, but only be lvl 34 in melee, for example. The details are in the descriptions of each skill.

Point 2: Dunno, don't use shields ;)

Point 3: The malus increases the amount of credit used to undertake an action. Each fight action, except default attack, needs stamina (or hp) to power it. Wearing Heavy Armour (HA) greatly increases the amount of credit needed, whilst medium increases it a bit. If you look at the information on the skill you wish to use, when wearing HA, you can see the actual cost, compared to the default cost (if naked or in Light Armour)

Point 4: Dual wield actions only affect the main weapon, as far as I recall.

For maximum stanza effectiveness in melee pick the one that corresponds to your lvl in the weapon you are holding, or the Q of the weapon you are holding, whichever is lower.

Example 1: Lvl 80 2h melee holding a Q100 pike, use stanzas that say 80 (or whatever is clsoest)
Example 2: lvl 65 1h melee holding a Q50 1H mace, use stanza for lvl 50.

The protection factor on a shield is applied after armor protection. And its not guaranteed to protect, only works sometimes- I don't know how the sometimes is determined, may be level based.

Example: You're wearing heavy armor with 50% protection. Holding a buckler that's 10% protection. You get hit for 100 damage. Armor takes off 50, then if the shield works it takes off 10% of the 50 that is left, meaning 5 more. You take 45 damage. The shield may not work, and you're stuck with the 50.

Malus is a direct extra percentag eof stats used. Look at your total malus, and that's how much extra stamina/hp you will use in your actions, percentage wise.

Example: Say you're wearing full heavy armor (20 malus and 6 pieces) and wielding a 2H axe, 50 malus. Your total is 170. Imagine the attack you have set up uses 50 stamina and 20 HP base. Now, with the 170% malus it will cost you 135 stamina and 54 HP each swing.

It depends on the power. Increase damage and accurate attack do not affect the off hand. However, ignore armor and aim stanzas will.

And, to sum it up, welcome to Atys and I hope you're enjjoying yourself! Send me a /tell in game anytime with more questions :)

Question one: They are refering to your skill lvl with that weapon, as an example, (note that im useing the lvl 51 melee split) if you were level 75 in 2h weapons, you would need to use the skills for lvl 75 if you want to use full damage and or accuracy, now if you were 51 still in 1h weapons, you could use the same skills as you used for the 2h or you could go and use the lower lvl actions closer to the lvl 51 skill lvl.

Question two: The protections stack with the armor you are wearing.

Question 3&4:Seh anwserd that for me as i was typing.
