If your having persisting problems with the client, graphics or otherwise. The first thing you should do is ALWAYS check your graphics/sound drivers are up-to-date.

ATI Catalyst website

Nvidia Driver website

Direct X

Creative Website

We do NOT recommend you use Omega drivers for your ATI card, they are beta drivers that you should use at your own risk. We do not endorse them, and are not obliged to help people who use them.

If your still having trouble, then you could have conflicting driver versions lingering on your system.
To make sure you remove all aspects we suggest the following procedure:
-Remove the drivers from the Add/Remove Programs area of the Control Panel and Windows Device manager.
-Reboot and ignore the 'Detected new hardware' prompt.
-Run the new drivers own installer and voila.
You could also use a driver cleaner if you have the software to hand.

Can I also add that it is best to be running directx 9.0c and also to make sure that you update this as and when a new version becomes available.

Microsoft Direct X

Any idea where to get recent "nvidia mobile" drivers?
Thats the ones used by the gfx on laptops, such as geforce FX GO 5700
(they say the "normal" nvidia drivers should not be used for the GO series)

I get my drivers from http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/

I use the GeForce FX go5200 series with my Toshiba Portable Desktop. I just downloaded the Ryzom trial and have not gotten past the login screen to create my character yet. So take this driver site with a grain of salt till I get online.

As you probably know, downloading and installing the official nVidia drivers does not work. So bizarre...

IMHO, for mobile graphic cards you should always use the drivers supplied by the vendor of your notebook...

yeah but it's hard if the vendor doesn't update the drivers at all, which does happen from time to time

Well I have the Nvidia FX5200 and I updated to those drivers. My desktop was completely unstable untill I put the old drivers back. If there is anyone out there who knows how I can maybe update my drivers again and maybe trouble shoot my PC so they work I would be ever so greatful. I tried looking for help on the Nvidia website but it's a bit difficult to navigate.
