Hello everyone, i plan on playing the game, im just waiting on tech support to help me out cause I cant get the client to work...

But anyways just a few questions bout the game, im coming from eve online and i hear this is also a sandbox type of a game, which is one of the reasons it sparked my interest. But how long does it take usually for a casual player to get to the point were he can start getting involved with the world and exploring/pvping/getting in events?

Also how is the population in the game? Is it typically easy for one to get a group? And are players dependent on groups in this game? Kind of like in FFXI? That'd be a real plus in my book, for I love interacting with others.

Also ive read through some of the other post, and i know their is no real way to go once im on the mainland...but what are some of the things I can do? I mean i doubt i can go out and start exploring deep in atyss the moment I get to the mainland right? Should I wander around town lvling up my skills or get a group/quest or what? I realize its my choice I just need a few ideas ;p

Anyways hope to meet some of you in game =D

Greetings and welcome to Ryzom!

When you get involved on PvP, events, etc. really depend on when you feel ready. On the trial island, there is a little sample of PvP, teaming up, and a good tutorial for each of the 4 main branches of skill. I suggest you finish those mission lines for the experience, knowledge, and gear that come with their completion.

The population on the isle seems like there are more people, but that's due to all four races starting on the same isle, and within close proximity to each other. The mainland has a good playerbase, but the world is huge so you may not see as many people in one place at the same time. I have had very good luck finding groups, as well as soloing. I find that the two are well balanced, personally.

There are all sorts of options once you are on the mainland. Unlike many other games, you are not restricted to doing quests to advance, but rather you get to choose what you wish to do. You can go the business route and craft or forage and sell your wares for profit, you can hunt various beasts for glory and excitement, exporing, socializing, etc. The people here are absolutely wonderful, so you should find a lot of helpful and friendly individuals about. There are missions you can do if you wish to quest, the encyclopedia/lore missions interest me at the moment. The lore of Ryzom is well written and addictive. :)

As you have most likely read on the forums here, remember to think of the trial island as a tutorial of how to play. The mainland is much different, but no less interesting, fun, or beautiful.

Again, welcome to Ryzom, and if you see me running around somewhere... say hello!

Hey, welcome to Atys. :)

Well you are not dependant on a group to hunt, everything can be soloed. However hunting groups will be about 3-4 times as effective, as there is much less downtime regaining strength.

You can help out in massive PVP as soon as you have a healing level or two, but in small PVP you are much more level dependant.

And exploring; you can go wherever you want as soon as you hit the mainland. All areas (except Heretic Hovel maybe) can be explored BUT it is VERY hard.

Welcome to Ryzom :)

You can go out to explore every region of Atys at level 0 if you've tremendous patience. I wouldn't recommend it, though, better to explore each new region you come to in depth, study the flora and fauna, the resources and the weather. Take advantage of the experienced players around whenever you get stuck trying to figure something out.
