Launcher not shown but loaded in task manager

As topic says. Whenever I try the launcher it will not show on the startbar and there is no window. However there is a task manager item for it. When I close this down and restart a window pops up saying game did not shut down properly and why did it not do this. After I click a button nothing happens and I need to shut down the task manager task again.
Please help.
Machine running Win XP Pro
1024mb ram
Intel Pentium 3.5g
ATI 9800 pro with latest drivers, latest directx too.

Right click on the launch icon and select 'properties', in the 'run:' box change from 'minimized window' to 'normal window', click 'ok'. And you should now have a normal launch window

Thanks for that magick1 but it still didn't work.
On one PC I have it loads up in the start bar minimized and what you suggested worked fine. The other one it doesn't show in the start bar at all. The process is running and when I shut it down via task manager, on the next load I have to select why it went wrong. But after this, still nothing. The configure window shows without a problem though.
I've also tried uninstalling, redownloading and running the recovery tool. No luck.
Please help if you can

Sounds like you have some issues on the second computer. Which OS and spec does it have?
(I presume you have tried the 'normal window' on all icons, even in the start menu, on it)

Some firewalls like ZoneAlarm can cause this sort of behaviour. Make sure that you have the game excepted or the ports opened. The
Networking FAQ has port details
