Ding, Gratz!

Im interested in hearing peoples thoughts on the following :)

Coming from SWG, I have never come across the Ding, Gratz phenomenon. I find this process very odd, don't get me wrong....I understand the process, you work hard on getting your next level, and you would want to let people know of your achievement.

However, I don't get why we "ding" per sub level, surely it would be more of an achievement to state, ding, lvl 100, ding lvl 125, ding lvl 150... you know, the milestones. (not sure if they are different for other classes, im a mage)

I find it quite amusing when in a largish well balanced group, and everyone dings every 5 minutes. Then you see everyone congratulates them. :D

Can be a little annoying but for a sub 50 player every lvl is a milestone.

Most peeps I know tend to only state more major Plateau's after the initial rush of blood to the head of early lvling :)

hehe, I happen to be with you. ;)

When I first started off and the levels went zipping by I just didn't feel like mentioning every single level I got... I went with the milestones as you say, or maybe every 10 level blocks... :p

At later levels in the high 200s when you get a level per week perhaps its not so bad. ;)

I have also had it where people in teams like being told when you've gained a level so that they feel appreciated, more so healers etc... So... I dunno. Funny mix. :D

/wave Jayce :D

Its funny like you say, odd mix, lastnight Tantalos was aiming for lvl 125 in ele, so was nice to know how he was getting on. But im recalling a night last week, I was in a group of 5 in Dyron, without a word of a lie, I done 14 levels in the space of a few hours. It was the same for everyone there, and the dinging was insane :)

/wave as well :)

But... But.. Is it really not supposed to be like this :)

Mitigated feeling yes:
-Dinging 14 times with 6 ppl in like a hour or two is indeed a lot of Dings lol.
-As was also said, when you work like hell for some lvls, especially the 230-240 ones in team of two, it is kind of rewarding for your healer to know that the goal approaches.

As well, historically speaking (*in our old time*.. * Yes granny*). there was no cats around and leveling was taking twice as much time so was sort of an accomplishment which one liked to share with ppl..

Its hilarious in my opinion.
I speed leveled 2handed up to 125 in about 2 days. (from 40).
And that went real fast, it ended up with Ason and Gundarfury making a Congrats macro :P
I couldnt stop laughing. lol

Now it has slowed down alot though, it does slow down at higher levels, and you really do appreciate all the levels you get.
Personally i love to see my groupmembers DING. Simply because i know that we are all rewarded for the time we do and the effort we put in.
Just my opinion though.

Hehe Tigrus yes,

The "ding ding" and "Grats grats" macro used to be pretty popular as well in granny's time.
Some very funny and some pretty harsh as well :)

When u reach level 150 getting levels is not as easy (espc forgae) so it may take a couple of hours per level, so when u reach that level you feel proud (maybe just me but hey)

anyways im sure if you are over crafting at level 250 for a skill that is level 50 with cats and say ding eveytime you level this might happen to you ;)
