Yes you'll both be able to join the same guild provided the guild wants you both. There are no restrictions on race to join a guild except those a guild leader might impose.

One thing that you should be made aware of: when you leave the starter island for the mainland you will go to the capital city for your race, so friends of different races will be separated at that point. Regrouping is extremely difficult for new players, but there are plenty of others that will help if you ask.

Yeah, this part, the split to differnt areas of the map, caused 2 of my friends to leave the game. I really think this idea sucks, and players to the mainland should get 1 free Pass to any other city, preventing friends from being seperated to badly.

Just trek.
It's one of the best, most fun parts of the game.
People should have a bit more patience.

Rejoining friends who are on other parts of Atys is one of the many challenges Ryzom will give you. At least with the old starter lands you knew that you were going to start in different places since you already were. I can imagine it would be a bit of a wrench to find yourself suddenly split from old friends.

Currently, as Jyudas said, the only way around this is to trek to the other lands to rejoin them. Trekking is fun but difficult.

as a lvl 50? - It took me about 2 wto be able to get in a trek to another area.

Theres nothing worse than spending 2 weeks with your rl friends playing on newbie island, to only find you are miles apart when you join the mainland. I tried to get into a trek to get to Matis, but that took over a 2 weeks.

Then, we have a dilema, 2 are in Pyr, and 2 in Matis... not everyone is on at the same time, so what do you do? 1 treks to Matis, leaving one behind? 1 treks to Matis, picks up 1 person whos online, return to Pyr leaving one behind?

For the solo player yes, this is fine, but not for a group of friends, whether RL, or a guild from another game.

There's plenty of people who will escort you or help you if (and this is key) you ask.

Yeah, Matis <---> Fyros is one of the easier and you can sneak it. But easier doesn't mean EASY, it will take hours and several times DP to solo it. You will need to learn which mobs are aggro and exactly how close you can be to a varinx or kincher before they spot you. It's fully possible and if you are up for the challenge you'll learn a lot and have something to brag about. :)
