So, there I was..meandering upon the digital highway seeking entertainment much like a baby would seek a bottle....an angry, hungry baby. I stumbled upon this game on MMOrpg.com. My patience for the lag/bugs/griefers/scamers/bots (circle as appropriate) or WoW worn particularly thin I took a breath and took the plunge (well, I say plunge. In taking up the free trial offer it is no more than a dip perhaps, a toe in the kiddiepool as such...but I digress...) While waiting for the download I browsed the wealth of information the website had to offer. There I saw them...there are many names passed down from MMO to MMO for them - Halfling, Gnome, Hobbit, they come in all shapes and colours (although the same size) I knew my race before i even picked. I was to be a Tryker. The self reliant nature, the friendly demenour ah yes...Free as the wind and a head for adventure! I passed a cursory glance over the other raced, but I knew instictively that I would go back to the Tryker race.
My beady eye then turned voraciously to the skills, fighter?...hmm no, Mage?...could be....Harvester? now there is an intersting concept. Crafer?..Bingo! Again seeking the advice of the sages on these pages I looked up the basics of the idea....but wait! it has installed, oh jollity and rapture unfortold, what momentous day..I shall return!

LOL - Welcome to Atys! You are indeed in for a treat... if you are sick of lag... I have what used to be a great PC but is now barely min-sys-req's for most current games (sad, I know)... but Ryzom runs smooth as butter with the graphics cranked up pretty well. As for bugs, griefers, scammers, and bots... I haven't encountered any of them yet myself.

Hello and Welcome to Ryzom!
I would liken Trykers to more of Kender if you are a D&D "geek" like myself!
And as far as the skill sets go they really don't matter, except you may get a few little perks from the different skill sets I.E. some materials to start with as a Crafter, becasue you can learn any or all of the skills this game has to offer which IMO sets this game apart from the rest!

Yeah, Kender.
Appart from that "Anything not nailed down is mine. Anything I can pry loose is not nailed down." stuff
Welcome to Atys and enjoy your stay.

From the mists of time he comes....
Of ages past he dreams, conceived in Advanced Dungeons and Dragons....progressing through D&D 2.5 and D&D 3rd, battling foes in the wilds of Norrath, spending a rather unsettling time as a blue rodian (?!) Blasting his way to Oxyia, Nagafen and Ragnaros...His heart full of new hopes, new dreams, new aspirations he is Mazzel Quickblade...and he is a Tryker.
So then, after the inital few minuites of wandering around in a daze (after remapping my UI and keys to better suit my WoW spoiled fingers) first impressions of the game look mighty promising...I mean, a game that can keep you enthralled with the prospect of digging up poop for an hour must have something going for it. It was about an hour and a half into the newbie quests that I finally hit on the masterstroke, the promised 'edge'...skill creation. Oh yea! the power is mine to control! Foes may tremble in my wake for I am enpowered!.... Those raw materials won't know which way from sunday they are, I'll prospect em here....gather em there....touch of care to stop the green explody death *shudder*... Seriously though, I am hooked on harvesting (is that wierd?) At least I have a bag briming with materials ready for when i finally do turn my hand to crafting (upon looking at the advice in the forums etc I decided to take the crafter package for the free materials and patterns) Those Yubos will just have to wait for a bit, I have poop to dig!

Man, if Silan-Harvesting gets you this exited, then I don´t realy want to know what you´ll feel when you discover all the good stuff on the Mainland. And Prime-Roots-Foraging... Ohmy...
