Stamina usage!

Hmm seems I tried to post twice in the feedback forum but those topics don't show up there. Not sure why, but I'm sure someone here can answer that.
Well that much for my first question, now the topic I wanted to bring forth there in the feedback forum was going about stamina. I've seen it stick up his head a few times. But was unable to find a topic for that topic alone. And sinse I like ontopic posts I'll post one for it to be discussed
Here is the post I tried to make in the feedback forum:
Ydyp wrote:So once again typing this thingy on feedback:
daggers: very fast, low malus = low stamina usage
1H weapons (exluded daggers): fast, normal malus = normal stamina usage
2H weapons: slow, big malus = high stamina usage
Well that is how it woul looks like, and well it is for some part. But still with daggers you run out faster on stamina then with 2 handed weapons. So in my eyes the balance between speed and malus isn't that optimal. Also on the damagefront it is that 2H does a lot more damage. Wich I don't find any problem, the bigger the stick you hit something with, the more pain you inflict. It is logical. But when I swing around a big stick I'm getting tired quicker then when I swing around smaller sticks. And this logic is lost for now.
This is just my experience and when I look at the board I'm not the only one that thinks that way. Also when this discussion is going on ingame it always end mostly with the argument: 'Ryzom is favouring 2H weapons'. Then I ask why do we still have 1H weapons in the game when they aren't that usefull?
Have fun playing, I will have for sure

Well just because 2h is favoured when it comes to bashing something to death, it doesnt mean its favoured by every single player. At the end of the day its down to personal choice, and if there was only the 2h weapons to choose from, then the melee scene would look pretty pathetic.

When I have gone melee, I generally use a 1h sword and buckler combo, or go dual wield sword/dagger combo. I haven't actually used a 2h melee weapon in Ryzom yet (unless you count punching things with my amps).

I do dual wield myself... only up to level 90 (in both) but I prefer it.
Main reason I prefer it? Well... I like the animations better than 2H or 1H+shield. I think my toon looks cooler dual-wielding. So that's what I do. It might be a tad less effective but given the option, I'll go with lower efficiency that I enjoy watching than higher efficiency that I don't.
Also I conceived the character (as the sig says) as being a "Duelist" and I always think of that as dual-wielding.

I have to say I also prefer 1H+shield or dual wield (sword + dagger). But as it you said it is less effective. Every style should have its advantages and disadvantages, but still be as effective as the other.
The above doesn't mean I want them both pulled equal on the damage front. As said it is logical if I hit something with a big stick it feels more pain. But the big stick is slower and easier to evade due to that, it also have a bigger drain on my stamina. And as pointed the slower and bigger drain on stamina is already in game. Not sure about the evading. This is the opposite of daggers. Swords and axes are in between those two, as it is now.
But I still stay with my conclusion, the flavour still exists and as all know a lot of people go towards the flavour or most effective way of fighting. Espescialy with the growing numbers of players. And yes I'm not long here but noticed already a big growth of numbers in the first month I'm here.

the bigest drain on your stamina is the armour you wear. if your using 1h or daggers maybe invest in some medium armour as this will drain your stamina at a much slower rate. however this will be ofset agains more damage inflicted.
with a good team tho it doesn't matter what you do really since that is what healers are for

Aye, the best equipped and skilled fighter is worth little more than their healer's ability to keep them from falling down.
And, of course... the mage's ability to nuke the pants off the mob, and help the tank bring it down before the healer runs out of sap.

Two-handed is indeed more useful for a solo player training up levels, in my opinion. However, a single handed user with shield can be extremely useful in a team. One big advantage of single handed use is the very high parry modifier that one can gain from the shield. A high level 1 handed user with a good shield only rarely gets hit by most mobs. Dual users deal out twice as many and faster hits, a tactic which has its devotees as well.

From experiences as a tank in other MMO's the "main tank", or primary fighter, would use heavy armor, heavy duty shield, and a one handed weapon with as much damage output and aggro generation as possible, taunting like a madman. A secondary fighter would attack the mob from behind with a 2 handed weapon, while "finger wigglers" (magic users) and scouts did their thing from the rear of the mob.
Not sure how much the behavior of mobs and their attacks differs from other games I have played, but the weapon you use will change depending on your role in a group, the mob in question, and your skill level with said weapon.
