What about Range?

I am having fun crafting ammo and shooting stuff up

However, there is little guide information on range, and most of the posts are somewhat negative. So here are my questions:
- is range still considered to be "borked", as most of the older posts say?
- pistols shoot faster, rifles do more damage, which one is best?
- the quality of the ammo seems important, what about the quality of the gun? should they be the same?
- I'm crafting q40 ammo, and get few stats using choice mats, is there a turning point to get stats? lvl 50 or something? or excellent mats?
Any help appreciated.

-Some branches are borked still imo, like launcher...
-Range is a bit like melee with the speed/damage deal. Its fairly balanced so whatever you like really...
-Yes the gun needs to be upgraded as you buy your skills, same as anything else.
-The only stats on guns that are really important currently are speed/range - damage comes from the ammo itself. Full damage ammo is easy to craft with just choice mats however getting mats and making a decent weapon can be tricky though its not so important at lower levels.
Hope that helps.

It is still as 'borked' as in the older posts, but I think it still is fun

Rifles have longer range, and pistols need a lot more stamina and hit points fo r the same ammount of damage.

Always use maximum damage ammo. You get maximum damage ammo from choice mats, experiment a bit, or ask me ingame

The amount of damage raises with higher quality ammo, if you use the same kind of mats.

Thats something that always puzzled me,
How come a pistol uses more stamina altogether than riffles or other heavy range stuff.
Same with daggers versus 2 hands weaps, doesn't make much sense.
Some all around weapon balancing would be nice, seems like nearly everyone is using a 2h axe.

Best is which ever you prefer ... that said max speed on pistols is 30. I don't know about range. Max speed on rifle/bowrifle is 24 with max range of 40.
This is something I found in another post .... swe99 had damage data that they based the following on
If rifle max speed is 24 and pistol is 30 then your max potential DPS with rifle is 372.6, compared to 345 for pistol, and you will be using far less stats...
But with a higher hit rate you might break up a mage cast more often? Plus pistol ammo has less bulk, 0.04 compared to 0.10 for rifle, however you can hold the same amount in your bag because they weigh the same....and the kg weight is the limiting factor..

indeed.. maybe some radical thinking is needed like, ohh i dont know, less stam drain for smaller weapons. it's a bit crazy that flicking a dagger uses as much as swinging a bloody great axe around

Its already different in the sense that a 2H weapon has more malus than a 1H, and a 1H more than a dagger. Granted, that alone doesnt make the excessive stam use from daggers/1H right. Maybe 2H needs an even higher malus? (I'm a 2H user too, so no complaints about me having something against 2H ppl pls, kthxbye)
