Hi.

Why the game is very slow to start?

Once you select player, and click Play! the game take about 3-4 or more minutes to start (With start I means to show the Noob Island).

It can take some time on older computers. It's quite a demanding game.

What are your system specs? :)

The game has to load a lot of textures into memory and depending on your settings and the speed of your hard disk this can take a while...

The ram is prolly the killer for you... 512 is the very minimum to run this game really...

One or two gigs would make a big difference if you are able to upgrade.

I used to have 512Mb of Ram and lower specs on everything else and it took me 10mins to load.

Now I have a nice PC I bought last Summer and from Char select to walking around ingame is 40s.

Its all down to your system specs.

Yeah, its down to your specs. Your video card is prolly your killer, along with your ram. I have a laptop with 3.0 GHz, 1.25 GB or RAM, and a ATI Radeon Mobility 9600 with 128 MB (Shared), and its still a bit laggy and takes about 4 mins to fully load the game, tho especially when viewing tons of people with a lot of action, like Outpost battles :( So I have to stay clear of them usually. But upgrading my ram from 512 helped a lot.

Just some advice of someone who relates!

256mb RAM, Geforce2 vid card... and man is my life miserable. :)

I don't even know how long it takes me to get in-game. I usually walk away and do something else as I log in, come back 10 minutes later, and hope it's ready. As far as gameplay goes, I have all graphics settings down to the minumum, barring slightly for characters, and I manage... away from capitals at least. I can really say that everyone else is right in saying that RAM and your video card are really important here, so I'd suggest looking into that soon.

man, /bow /empathy /strange_look

invest in a calender, pick a date to upgrade and stick to it, the graphics and small details compared to minimum settings are unimaginable, slightly derail of topic but on a level from 0-10, how much do you rely on graphics ingame as a contributer a good gameplay experence? (open general question), just wondering
