questions on crafting

I'm a WoW,DAoC, and Horizons veteran... had a question on crafting in the game. Not sure if anyone has played Horizons but it was built around crafting where players could build entire towns. I realize Ryzom isnt exactly that way but can players craft structures in the game or build anything other than items like armor/weapons/jewelry etc? or will that ever be an option in the future?

I also joined to try the PvP, I understand that you can defend structures and build them up? or am I mistaken?

There isn't currently a system for building structures I'm afraid. EP2 (shown on the roadmap) was an event lasting some time where players contributed to building temples for their faction. Thats has been about it as far as buildings go though I'm afraid.

As for outpots, currently you are able to build drills on them, but they are simply paid for and magicly *plonk* on a pad.
The outposts (with drills) are defended as a whole.

The one bad thing about PC cities that I have seen from SWG is they tend to clutter the Map. If SoR could learn from this and perhaps just introduce like portals or something to places where PC cities could be built without ruining the environment, that would be really cool. I really want to see PC cities, but there are somethings that need to happen to make them a more enjoyable experience and not just an eyesore...

That could be done basically with Ryzom Ring.

Yes indeed. It's more at camp building stages at the moment but buildings and cities could come in the future. :)

There was a thread about this :

I really miss this part of Horizons crafting as well.

Once the Ring is out, hopefully the devs will get the hint ;)

I'm assuming you can so the usual enchanting of armour, amulets, rings etc to make them more powerful. Crafting rules and I hope they have more variations soon!

I feel like a kid in a sweet shop right now, so many choices!

Kindest regards,

Not exactly. Crafters can learn to add player stat boosts for HP, Sap, Stamina and Focus to an item at the craft stage, which apply when the item is worn or equipped. Anybody can Crystallise any spell that they can cast, and enchant a weapon in order to cast that spell as an enchantment instead of as a player action. You'll learn about it soon enough, I'm sure :)
