Weapons and thier colors

Post by tintagil »

I'm wondering what determins the color of a weapon? Now I've asked around ingame and haven't gotten a straight answer. Some people say you can't and others aren't sure. I know that different colored weapons exist because i've seen them. Can anyone be so kind to elighten me?

(Not sure why you linked to a discussion on armor plans where there is no discussion of color....)

As for weapon colors, as far as I have seen the weapons always come out with the same pre-determined color. The type of mats you use (ie: their color) does not change the outcome like it does with armor. So far the only visual aspect of weapons you can change is if the weapon is a basic plan or is a medium quality (modi) plan and this is only a slight increase in the texture quality of the weapon graphic.

I only have exprience so far with basic and modi plan weapons, its possible the later weapon plans actually let you change the color. *shrug* I have made weapons with a range of materials from basic to supreme and have always had them come out with the same color.

Only color difference come from different race weapons, or using higher quality patterns, ie medium and high quality as oppose to normal. You cannot change the color of a weapon just from the mats used to make it.

actually, weapons come in 1 color pattern (on a per weapon per race basis) until the crafter reaches the level of competancy to use the Medium Quality weapon plans. Once you've gained the ability to use those patterns/plans then your weapons will take on the hues of your materials. I make MQ 1-handed swords and they always take on the hue of the most used color in my mats while the non-MQ weapons use the default wood/bone textures.

I haven't seen any HQ weapons on players yet, but i'm anxious to see how much the weapon appearance changes with the HQ patterns.

At what weapon crafting level do medium quality plans become available?

50/51 ... once you reach 50 or 51 craft level then all of the items that you have plans for will have MQ plans available for you to purchase. For example, if you have the 1-handed sword plan but not the 2-handed sword plan, then once you hit 50/51 the MQ 1-handed sword plan will be available but the MQ2-handed sword will not. And you will have to purchase the 2-handed sword plan for the MQ 2-handed sword plan to become available.

I can craft Medium Quality weapons (Modi) and they do not take on the colors of the mats. They have always been the same color and I've used a full range of colors (even white/black).

As per the game manual, it even says that weapons can not be colored while armor can.

Maybe my graphic settings are some how different, but I do not notice a color difference. Then again its hard enough to really even notice the difference from basic to medium plans.

it is simple, clothing and armor HAVE a color, the rest...do not, including jewelery which does not show (think about having to add a dangling object to the animations of each race *shudders at the lag it would add*).

On the colors of armor and clothing, the majority color wins out, OR if there IS no majority the color of resin wins.

Hope that cleared some fog.
