Hello All,
I was just wondering about the whole guild selection process. I know there are guilds that are allied with either the Kami or the Karavan as well as neutral guilds. What I was wondering was about guild selection. I do not know the history or Saga of Atys well enough to have made decisions as to which side of the battle I will take, or even if I will stay nuetral.
So, my question is this: Is changing guilds looked down upon? I know in other games I have played "guild hopping" was looked at very suspiciously. If you saw a character in one guild one week and then another the next week and still another after that, you were very suspicious about inviting them to your guild. Should I just wait and be very inquisitive with my guild choice? Or, if I join a guild and then find it is not for me, will it be difficult to join another?
Thanks in advance for any and all responses.

Re: Guild Hopping
I studied up on all the guilds thoroughly before I made my decision.
There is a post here on the boards that intros the guilds and may help you find a guild that you'll be happy in.

Re: Guild Hopping
My advice would definitely be to put alot of time & effort in to checking out which guild is for you, as Kirey says.
The people in your guild will most likely end up being the people you spend most of your time with in-game and to me thats the most important thing.
Take your time and if you do make a mistake I think most of community is mature enough to understand & respect that sometimes people just don't fit in everywhere.
Here are a couple of threads that should help you out a bit...

Re: Guild Hopping
I agree with what they have said, after all a guild that takes you in will invest in you. They will help you with armors, weapons and the like. If many start guild jumping, I would believe that will make our guilds wary of giving excellent stuff to new members.
Re: Guild Hopping
To give away excellent stuff to new members is really not the new members problem. Gear should not be part of the calculation when you choose a guild. More important is timezones, the guilds direction and alignments, and the people.
I think most guilds will be glad to invite a new member on trial basis, if you just tell them that up front. Talk with the leader and high officers if you are already in a guild that does not suit you and let them think how they can make it better for you - or direct you to a guild that fits better.

Re: Guild Hopping
If you let a guild know that you are joining to "trial" the guild then you should be fine. I know we've had people in the past do jsut that and then made a final decision based on their "trials".
Re: Guild Hopping
But to answer your question directly: Yes guild hopping is frowned upon...
We had a karavan guild hopper person who changed over 6 karavan guilds and then when no karavan guilds were happy to accept him switched over to kami side...
P/s Mmmm or is it kamicide confused

How you leave a guild is almost as important as how you join one. Don't just hit the quit-guild button and move on. Let the leader or an HO know why you are leaving so they understand. And, as was said above, if there's something that can't be corrected for yourself or for future new players, this helps the guild to grow and improve if they are so inclined.

Re: Guild Hopping
Everything said here is right... some don't care where ya been as long as you get along with them. Other guilds watch closely how many guilds you have been in and will inquire into why you left etc...
Your guild choice can enhance your play experience greatly, figure out how you want/like to play and find like minded folks. Every guild is different...

Re: Guild Hopping
Guilds are an important part of a player's life while hooked on any game that has them. Interviewing the guild is just as important as having the guild interview you. Never, ever, hit the join button if someone invites you without even knowing who you are, where you been gaming style wise, where you think you are going, how you play, when you play and what you are looking for in a guild (faction, stance, roleplay, etc).
Most guilds can give you armour and weapons and never base your decision on whether they can give you catalyzers. They are as unimportant in a true decision as the guild's ability to outfit you up at sign-up. In fact, you may enjoy a small guild with mostly new players better than a larger, older guild. The choice, as always, should be up to you.
I would caution, however, if you are "trialing the guild" be honest and up front about it. And how you leave a guild is as equally important as how you join one, imho.
