Hi!!!
i normally play EVE online, and i thought id try a new game out , and this one seemed to stand out for me, i used to play ( and still do on occasion) EQ2 aswell, so i kinda know what to expect form mmorpgs. I havnt actually started this one up yet, im waiting for the download, and i hope i like this as much as i like eve, to me it seems like a fantasy version of eve, in its freeform play , and faction playstyles, i really like the idea of the player controlled universe, am i right in thinking this?
anyway hope to see you all in game soon and i will probably have lots of noob questions heh, i hear the community in this game is far less aggressive than other games such as eve, i hope thats true

Welcome to Ryzom! (almost
)
Yeah, it's player controlled to an extent and yes the community is one of the best imo. (once you make it to the mainland anyway - ofcourse theres always one or two bad apples)
I hope you'll enjoy your time on Atys with us.
-Jay.

hey! Fellow EVE player here. i come here to relax and unwind after PvP in EVE. So far I am having a blast doing the quests on the n00b island, there are some... um... WOW kiddies that spam the chat channel with rubbish but from what I hear that improves on the mainland. (The island is being closely watched by GMs and I have seen several fools get banned so far

Welcome both!

Actually, it's sort of sci-fi here too. Karavan might just be a ruthless Amarr corporation, future events might reveal what they intend to do with us homins.

I'm glad you're getting away from EVE. Welcome to your next addiction

Even another EVE player here as well. I have so far enjoyed my time in Ryzom. I still play (and love) EVE, but I wanted that out-of-pod MMO gameplay - tried it in WoW (ugh), but I think Ryzom will be a great 2nd MMO home for me
.
Good to see other EVE pods stretching their legs in Ryzom.

yeah, it took a while to get used to having a full body again!
i may have to try creating a character that looks like my EVE character and role play a crashed Pod Pilot lost deep on a planet in BoB space

heh. an errant eve player here as well so I had to comment. still downloading the ryzom client myself. I love eve.. been playing more than 2 years, but my first love has always been fantasy rpg. just never can find one that delivers.
I was actually part of the ryzom beta test in phase one and two, so i am somewhat familiar with the game. prolly been more than a few changes since then. i enjoyed so much of ryzom but lag was the one factor I could not get past. it was simply horrible. I hope that has changed. If it wasnt for that and the grouping system i might have played retail.

Well there isnt near as much now as there was back in Beta, but if you live in the US, Telia has been kinda "spazy" as of late and can attribute alot to the lag. I would recomend checkin the following
link to see various fixes to some of the other more common issues related to the "lag"
other than that Welcome all to the Giant Root Ball!
