Performance Issues

I am having severe performance issues, even with the game on low graphics settings and EAX disabled... according to the minimum specs posted this should not be happening.

It's stuttering a lot, it feels like super low FPS... I'd say around 15 from the looks of things.

My system:
AMD X2 dualcore 3800+ (OC'd -- 2.5 GHz)
2GB DDR 400 RAM
XFX GeForce 6800GT

nVidia drivers are version 84.21

EDIT: Forgot to add... I'm on Comcast 3 megabit cable.

I tried changing the resolution, had no effect.
All settings on low, no effect.

I noticed for some reason Ryzom had defaulted its' affinity to just one of my cores? I tried setting affinity for both cores, no effect.

Only thing I could think of is if Ryzom is particularly sensitive to overclocking?

Any help anyone could give would be much appreciated.

The problem COULD be network related, not PC related. A poor network connection can cause very jerky movement, with occasional to frequent "Please Wait" messages.

If you have done everything in the sticky threads on this forum to make sure your network/firewall, etc is configured correctly, more than likely its not your network, or even your ISP. If you are a North American based player, the connection fault most likely lies with Telia, the company providing the transatlantic pipeline for this game. For the past three or four weeks I've been having major connection problems. Been running PingPlotter, it always shows a problem in the first couple of Telia-based routers. BTW, the current server IP address is 213.208.119.220, and it changes with each major patch. Check this threadfor the current IP address (post #3).

Unfortunately, neither my ISP or Nevrax has any control/sway over Telia. Telia needs to upgrade their infrastructure, which I don't see happening any time soon.

Since you already mentioned that the system is OC'ed that might be the problem, check that all settings/hardware (BIOS etc.) perform to specs. Are they settings that are optimal? Did you run any benchmarks or system tests before and after OC?
I have had no problems with any OC and SoR. :)

Do you have any problems in other games?

Have you looked at AA/AF and quality settings for the driver?
Is sync of screen on (turn it off should help)? What is the refresh rate at the resolution you play?

Affinity won't make (much of) a difference, unless you run something else that is CPU "heavy".

You can use fraps (or similar) to check on framerate.

Do you have anything else running on the computer while you play? Are you the only one using the connection?
And as already mention, how good is the connection when you play?
