The starting packs, do we get 1 or 3?

I'm a new player, i read the guides recommending to choose one pack of each type except fighting but at the character creation menu i can see just one starter pack.
Things have changed lately and new players start with just one pack? And if yes which is the best choice to start with, skill points wise?

Welcome Mjoll

Yes, those starter packs vanished with the refugee exodus to Ruins of Silan. The best option is the one that suits your playstyle the best, and really the difference is insignificant after a day's play. The new style simply allows you to get a little headstart in the field you think you would like to get stuck into.

Get the Crafting Starter Pack!
Go with the CRAFTER pack, the last one! even if you dont want to be a crafter. The key to fighting is getting a good weapon as soon as possible, get rid of the silly refugee dagger, buy a 1h sword (duelist blade is the best), toss the refugee dagger in your left hand, and start killing.
Magic, is almost as fast as fighting, you need to get some decent magic amplifiers, and start casting acid at them yubo's.
Forrage SP also comes fast, just pull out your pick and dig the green resource bubbles all over the ground.
Once again, Crafting is the most lucrative for fast money of the two, and the has the most skills in SP cost. (you get 50 extra crafting materials, as well as another Light Armor pattern worth 30 SP, you can sell your crafted items for mulah!) ..so I would go crafter regardless of what you want to do.
But what do I know?

Economics?

Crafter starter gives you light gloves plan in addition to your light boots, and 50 extra mats. What if you don't want to be a tailor?
Fighter starter gives you Increase Damage - pretty crucial unless you will never ever hit anything back.
Magic starter gives you Fear - probably the single most useful non-damage spell? (and outrageously annoying to melees)
Harvest starter gives you Basic Prospection - essential skill unless you will never ever dig.

LOL, yes, but sell the stuff you make, buy a better weapon then you start with, and you are better off than you were fighting, without ever having to kill a single yubo. With your new wepon, you will kill much more efficiently. Thus becoming a better fighter. The same will apply to mage. (forrage is silly, cause who really just wants to forrage and not craft?)

Thom laid it out clearly, no argument at all. No reason to go for anything except the crafting starter pack.
Totally right, extra money to start, get the first few levels quick, more sp in crafting plans(though really its crafting sp)
