High-End Melee?

can someone give me an impression of what High-End Melee is like?
like, what kinds of options for customization do you get? combos? combat animations? graphic effects? AOE attacks? special attack effects?
I'm debating (while playing on the Newb Isle) whether I want to focus on Magic or Melee(Daggers and/or Staffs in particular)?
are Daggers underpowered at all?
are there two-handed Staffs, like Bo Staffs?
and can you feasibly get by with Dual Daggers and Light (or Medium is need be) armor? does Dodge/Parry play a major part in survivability?
what real effect does hitting someone in the Legs have, compared to hitting them in the Arms?
I want to be a Damage Dealer (i.e. not primary tank), but i'm not sure if i want to to Magic or Melee for it.

Neither of those weapons would really classify you as a damage dealer per say...
Imo true melee damage dealers have to be using a 2handed weapon.
That said, the speed at which you hit wielding dual daggers, makes it very very difficuly for an enemy mage to cast (presuming you intend to pvp)
Theres a circular attack, which effectively makes you spin around, hitting multiple targets.
Id suggest trying a few different skills out for a bit and seeing what you think, at the end of the day you should do whichever skill you find you prefer/enjoy the most.

war-cry, feint, attact after dodge, attack after parry, circular attact, beserk, bleed, aim at {eg, hands/head}, item wear, and more can be used in stanza`s and in battle at higher levels, all effective.
Staffs not really a viable melee tree, probably second weakest and very hard to kill much, people do the tree as a chalenge more than anything. Knife fighting very low powered compared to 2h doing about a fifth the damage of a sword or axe, but faster, and funner.

I'll give you a duel not using 2haned melee weapon and we'll see about a "true damage dealer"
"staff" is one handed and unless you take it up for a laugh a waste of time, i'm doing it for a bit of fun as ive alrdy done enough "serious" melee's

Staff is the only "serious" melee in my opinion
But i like boxing mostly, to bad im to lazy to start lvling that
At least the titles you get when mastering thoose 2 are tip-top!

daggers would be good if the speed wasn't a bit messed up. i've sent in a few tickets and there was a thread here a while back about it too. basically it seems as tho daggers are capped to 30-33 (depending on actual count) hpm instead of up to 60 hpm.
they are still fun and do more damage than 1h mele on plods (high level grind mobs). they are also really good at keeping agro since they have such short range on them. either that or somone keeps dipping my daggers in kincher pheromones
