hello,
As stated above I am a WoW refugee. I got tired of the imaturity, greedy e-peen of WoW and running a 200+ member raiding guild.
The lack of choices, the pigion holing of classes yadda yadda yadda..
So far I am on the free trial version, but will prolly go PTP soon. I am loving all that this games in its free form so far and I think it offers much for the Rp and explorer in all of us
My Toon Name is TamTam on the newb Isle and I will be there for a few weeks still as I learn the ins and outs of this game. I look forward to meeting you all In game.
One last note: I am glad to see this game brings with it a mature player base and not just I used my daddies credit card to play so I can pwn everyone in yet another game.
I myself am 36 yrs old and have been role playing since GaryGygaxx (cookies for anyone who actually knows who that is
and have been playing video games since pong was brought home(again cookies)
Look forward to many adventures with all of you!

Hi Tamtam!
Already said it in the other thread, but welcome to Atys, and enjoy the scenery and the great community in Ryzom!

I played Pong!
Not with Gary Gygax though...
Welcome refugee! Be prepared for a shock, the two games are different in many many ways (Ryzom and WoW, not Pong). I think you'll like the differences!

I want my cookies then. Garry invented D&D, but also a much less known system with a lot of background material (if you know what it was called). I actually met hin in the early days when I were part of a convention group holding small RP conventions for 200-400 people.

Hurray for Pong !!
I was playing Breakout on my Acorn Atom a couple days ago. It may be lame graphically, but many "modern" games still have a lot to learn when it comes to keeping you up for 3 hours longer than you intended, saying "just one more go, gotta beat my high score" over and over and over again lol
Anyway, I digress .....
I'm a WoW refugee too and was also immensely irritated with the immature community and boring endgame. No such problem here, been on mainland for a month so far and it's great, haven't seen a single piece of childish spamming from subscribed players, everyone's really friendly and helpful, and there's just so much to do !
Now where did I put my pick ?
See you on mainland soon

I think you speak about 'Dangerous Journeys', I never had the pleasure to meet him in, but I read all his books about 'Gord the Thief'. So if it wasn't for him, I think we won't write on this particular forum today
And yes, I played pong too.
Welcome to Atys TamTam.

Well I'm a Star Wars Galaxies refugee, and Man is ever nice to see people that are here tp play and not brag about pwnig someone. Also all of you are dating yourselves with the D&D and pong references! lol And so must I! I remember playing pong and also Playing just regular D&D not Advanced! Yes I speak of the boxed set! As a matter of fact I still enjoy D&D the 3rd edition and own all of the first edition books. Well I hope to see all of ya out there my toon is Znathara and any help would be greatly appreciated!

Dungeons and Dragons was not the first strategic wargame GG released; the first was called "Chainmail" and that game went on to be the foundation for D&D. I blame GG for my love of RPGs; I received the Basic D&D boxed set way back in 1979 :O
