A newbs perspective...SoR FEELS like AC

After playing for the past two days this game to me feels like Asherons Call, my first MMORPG and a classic first gen game.
The diffrences in the two are numerous but it is a feeling I get when I play SoR. I can not put a finger on it exactly but this is what I feel when I play. Let me say for me it is a very good thing. Plus it harkens me back to my SWG days of open-endedness.
I have been reading numerous posts here and on the official site. I realize that the Island I am becomming accustomed to is not the norm on the level of how the quests are given on the mainland. But to me what I see is a trend for the future. If it can be done for the starter island I can see the possibility of the quests eventually spreading into the mainlands.
Here is what I have seen in two days (Yes a short time but they have left some rather large impressions)
1. A world that feels alive. There is not a feeling of static sameness anywhere. The sounds and the change of weather/time of day is spectullar.
2. AI that feels alive. I have not seen mobs act like this since SWG. They are constantly walking up to me and just checking me out. I will not discuss me running for my life the first time I cam across a carnivore hostile mob and it made a very rude noise then rushed me. I got myself killed just because I stood there in amazement. It really adds to the feeling that I am in a living world.
3. The ability to do anything...really. Not being slotted into a role forever unless I reroll a new class is very refreshing.
4. Honest mature players. Even in the newb zone people are helpful and seem very nice. A very welcome change from the community of uber peen WoW kids I have become so used to.
There is much more that I have felt and noticed in playing and I think that soon I will be upgrading my account. I do have a couple questions though.
What are the costs of mounts/packmounts/apartments? Will it take me a month or more to be able to earn enough to purchase one?
I see the game is very RP centric, I have next to no knowledge about the lore of the game, how hard it is to find a guild that is active and helpful/understanding?
If I decide to make the leap into the game in full down the road what will be the cost to me? I know the sub fee and how much it costs but is there a fee for the game itself or do I just upgrade and blammo I am GTG?
Thanks to any who answer and read this. I look forward to getting out of work today and getting IG to play. A feeling I have not felt in some time.
