I just started playing and am trying to decide on a race..

I like the looks of the Matis but want to be a magic focused character.. From the race descriptions it seem the Zorai are the most magic oriented..

So the question is, does race even matter? Do the races have any inherent bonuses? Will I lose/gain anything by choosing one race as apposed to another?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.. Thanks

If you want to "follow the lore" then Zorai are the most magic oriented. But game mechanic-wise, it matters not a whit what race you are, so pick the looks you like, then work the skills you want to work.

Pretty much no difference between races except looks, starting fame, and where they spawn after Silan. Check here.
