foul supporters of the Karavan defilers! Fanchon, the soon-to-be-great Zorai war mage is here! You shall soon know the sensation of being torn to shreds by the fury of nature herself! You shall..
/aggros a Yubo and dies
CURSES!!
Anyway, just thought I'd stop in and say hi. New to Ryzom, liking the trial area so far, figure I'll do everything I can in RoS before deciding if I'll subscribe or not. I love the community here, sooo much friendlier than in WoW, where most questions are answered by, 'LOLZ USE THOTTBOT NOOBZORS LOLZ STFU.'(or something to that effect). Here I ask one question about skills and get 4 people giving me about 3 paragraphs worth of text and answering questions I didn't even have yet! Very refreshing.
I have only one question for the forums here, and that is: Are there any ranged weapons available in RoS? I have yet to find any on any of the vendors. Cheers!

Hi there and welcome to Atys! *huggles*
Don't worry I am sure I shall be quakeing in my boots soon enough mis-guided Kami follower
Anyway there is no range weapons on the starter land (RoS). It is a very expensive skill to learn which is why I assume it is not on the starter land.

That's what I kinda thought. Ahh well, it can wait, I just want the extra skill points (and I have no clue what an autolauncher is but it sounds like fun to try) =D

Range..Range....Who said ranged weapons..?????.....AAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!.....calm down..i am a recovering ranged weapon user...Yes...I am recovered...It can't harm me any more......
Ranged weapons are a real....Skill....
First you start by shooting cute yubos....then you get more proficient.....and are able to buy expensive ammo.....and erm....kill more yubos..
I have read on the boards here that range is in need of love and attention from the Devs *waves to attract dev attention*....and I can confirm ingame it is expensive and frustrating to advance the skill. You have to Buy the ammo ...and as all else, it varies in quality.
But...The guns Look very impressive...and many homins will bow down to you in fear.
Note :- My comments are based on achieving a level 70 range skill at this stage.

Welcome to Atys!
You'll have to wait until you move to the mainland for autolaunchers which are sort of a fad these days.

Oh great, they come in ninja... One'll probably bite off the 'thong' that passes for Zorai light armor while I'm foraging one day. I'm sure I'll look really intimidating while running after it with one hand over my crotch and trying to get an acid splash off before it gets out of range...
Edit: BTW would ranged weapon ammo fall under the 'weaponcrafting' tree?

Yes, ammo and gun craft are the same skill branch. But not melee weapon crafting.
(0-20) Craft -> (21-50) Range Weapon Craft -> (51+) One-handed / Two-Handed
Two-handed ranged craft also splits into rifle, launcher, and autolauncher at 101.
I don't believe any ranged craft is available to learn on the starter island, only mainland.
