Hey all, just my two cents on this new game i stumbled upon

It's awesome! at least so far. I fully expected people to have the names l337 and h4xor when i logged in for the first time coming from WoW and such. Such the opposite and I havn't found one person not helpful in this game so far. Even the GM was helpful quickest response for a question ive had in ANY game before.

I guess I have a few questions though before purchasing it and leaving the trial island

First is I heard someone say they got to level 400?? that's crazy how long does that take?

Second is does someone usualy focus more on one thing past trial island? because it seems like everyone on trial island does everything as far as craft/fighter/magician etc.

The max in each skill branch is 250, but you can learn all branches without limit. Branches split at 21, 51, 101, 151, and 201 - so you can imagine that's a lot of levels one could gain. About 11,000 total.

Depends on the person, really. Most focus on several skills, some try to master as much as possible, some focus on one or two. Do what you like.

Trial island has quests for all 4 base skill types, and gives lots of XP for them, so levelling them at least to 21 (and the first branching) is pretty trivial. Once you get into more and more branches, it takes a lot longer.

It seems to me that what most people do is pick one branch to work in each major skill area... So they do fighting, then melee, then pick say 1-handed, and work that into swords or something. They will do magic, and then go defensive, and then healing. Then they will go into crafting, and work into melee weapons, and then swords. And in harvesting, focus on say desert foraging. Then, after they cap those skills (which takes a long time), they may go back and so some other stuff (like trying ranged combat, offensive magic, jewel crafting, etc).

I like all 4 activities, so I tend to alternate. I'll forage a whole lot for a couple of days, then craft with what I foraged, then go do melee for a while, then back to crafting... etc.
