Hi, been playing a few days, and so far I love the game, but before I invest more time in it I'd like to confirm that this will indeed turn out to be the right game for me. The things I value are:

1) A good community - no l33t speak, no griefers: so far so good.
2) The chance to specialize: I really enjoy specialization, in particular crafting/harvesting. I don't have much interest in combat.
3) Guilds that care about their member's life: for example, I've seen (in EQ2) guilds that just sent away wave after waves of members to the slaughter - without tactics or planning - and no one cared either. Personally I value my character's life, and I do play really close to permadeath mode. So knowing that I'll find people sharing the same set of value once on the ML would help me part with my hard-earned cash

Ok that's about it - do you guys think this might be the right game for me or am I mistaken?

From what you describe, I think this may be the game for you. Very little l33t speak, and most of that on the "free trial" starter island. None of the guilds or teams I've worked with treat members as "throw-aways". Very mature community in most respects. Plenty of room for a dedicated harvester/crafter, although I might recommend that you add "healing" magic to your repetoire, can be a life-saver when digging with others.

Some combat skills might also prove usefull, some of the better resources can only be dug in areas with "big bad uglies" and you might need to defend your self occasionally.

1) definitely one of the strongest points of this game.

2) oh yes, you can be a dedicated digger/crafter and keep you busy for years. That said it's a classless system, so specialization does not preclude other options. In fact, more and more homins are becoming high level in several skills. You can be a master medium armorer crafter, for example


3) most guilds are like families here. That said, you will not find (yet?) guilds with hundreds of members either.
