I did Ryzom in beta, I was there at release in Rulers of Atys with Kibs. I was a bit bored of WoW waiting for the expansion. Neun and Seren are back, so I though I would come back and have a look since I left in Feb 2005.
1. Nothings changed much, very disapointing. Outposts, I cant believe that they took so long to develop after seeing one today.
2. Ryzom was PvE not PvP, taking away game content to make ppl choose a side when some of us werent interested in that sort of thing is just plain stupid.
You seriously need to re-think there.
Anyway, nice graphics, friendly ppl (when u actually see some) and it might have been a good game if it had been handled properly from the start.

Come back again for R2.
I agree on the PvP and outposts though.

I don't think it's a pointless thread. Maybe things could have been said in a more politically and less offending way *sigh* but I see a player that left the game, came to check what's new and gave his opinion. I have several friends in the same situation so I read what he had to say and the points the OP (who I haven't met I think he left before merge) raises are imho valid.
Of course, we can always say "wait for Ring, it will be release on sec^H^H^H June^H^H^H^H, Sept^H^H^H^H as soon as it is stable" and "they have plans" and "kitin lair and spires" and "there are other things to do", but oh well. It does not change the fact that if any of old friend that left asked me the question I would give basically the exact same answers. I can no longer rely on promised features or dates to try to convince them, so it's a take-it-or-leave-it.

no longer? not ragging on nevrax here, but we could never rely on dates they gave out. (and afair they always mentioned that any dates are estimates, not set things.)

If I may ask, being new to Ryzom, are you going back to WoW?
I liked that game for a while, but since I'm an older player, I find myself really annoyed by the maturity or lack of in that game.
But that's not the primary concern for me, the primary concern is that its loot based. I know I'll never have the good gear because I don't raid. It kind of puts a damper on the progression of my character.

I still playing WoW, I am in a guild where the average age is 32, it makes a big difference. I'm on a low pop server and we are about the 7th largest guild there with about 190 active players who all work, we make a point of only 18+ and mature sounding players. With the opening of character transfer I would get yourself moved to a server where us oldies hang out
As to the threads point, it was to let the devs know that from a old visiting player theyve got it wrong. Something alot of old players whos friends lists Im still on were quick to tell me when I logged on.
Neutral players should be able to go everywhere, I shouldnt have to pick a side in a game thats lore gets changed at the whim of the developers to enjoy the game content I am paying for.
I got enjoyment mapping out all the hard to find supreme mats and making lots of different items. If I want to PvP I will do it in WoW where its a hell of a lot more balanced.

You so right on the nail it hurt. i just had to post, long time now since last.
Not what the actional devs ever read this kind of threads as the problebly gets filterd out by the webmaster.
Think also ep2 and the pvp disasters what followed is one of the resons i think, you don't see Jessica around any more.
I think pvp is ok in small doses like controlled wars and so on, but force a game what was made for PvE and to be a wannabe wow is like you say plain silly.
Think on all the good content we could have insted had they focused the their time on a PvE based game.
Just look at the very good missons they made on starter island.
It take so very litle to make something good.
What ever they do we still keep being friendly and helpfull over the factions.
Hope what they see is soon and relaise what most have their best time then we stand to gether fighting for a goal, and what is PvE.
