Forgive me but what is R2?

I'm sorry if this is covered somewhere else, but I keep seeing references to R2 in posts and was wondering what it refers to? Is there a Ryzom 2 being planned or??

R2 = Ryzom Ring, a free expansion allowing player created content, quests, areas for exploration etc
I'm eagerly looking forward to it, it's potential is _huge_.

Oh, ok. Thank you aardnebb for clearing that up
I've read up on the Ring expansion and I too am eager to try it out. The R2 reference kinda threw me there

It should be R(squared)

In a sense it would be adequate to call it "Ryzom 2.0".
Because of all the new code that´s been written and all that
