Trial vs Paying Skill Levels?

I see that while playing the free trial that all my skill levels are capped at 20. I'm wondering how long you can do things on the island? In other words can all of the quests be done there below 20? Or will you hit 20 and still have a lot to do before going to the mainland?

When you start paying I assume the cap is lifted?
Thanks!

Your skills are not capped at 20. Open up your Actions Progression Page and click the little box with the + in it by the skill block.

At lvl 20 your skills branch. You're seeing it in "collapsed view" with the branches closed up is all.

The cap is not 20, 20 is the point at which your primary skills branch off into secondary skills. As long as you can continue getting xp, you can keep gaining levels.

That said, there are many stanzas that are not available from the trainers until you subscribe and go to the mainland. So while your level is virtually unlimited, your effectiveness is somewhat limited.

As far as when you should go to the mainland, it is probably best to level fighting and/or magic to at least 30 before heading to the mainland. Mobs on the island are easier to kill, so you should take advantage of it while you can.

Also, huntn, I'd just like to say that no matter what level you get to on the island, you'll accellerate amazingly fast once you get to the mainland. The newbie area is designed to be easy and one part of that is that it's slower. There are less mobs around that are easier to kill, and it kind of eases you into it. I'd agree with what cssteveo said, about level 30 in magic and/or melee fight is about right for going to the mainland.

That said, I was level 45 melee fight/35 defensive magic when I went to the mainland yesterday. I'd taken my time on the island so that by the time I actually went to the island, I had a fairly good idea how to the mobs around my level would respond to me and what sort of things I could take at any given time. Now I'm 57 2-h melee fight, 44 defensive magic. That was from one night fighting on the mainland. Just shows you how fast things speed up for you once you're off of newbie isle.

One word of advice: if/when you do come to the mainland, try and find someone around the same level as you that you can join up with and take turns one being the healer the other being the melee or damage dealer. It really gets you both experience very fast.

Also, no one mentioned it above and I'm not sure if you know or not, but the maximum skill level you can reach in any given skill is 250 and there are thirty-something branchs at that level, if I remember correctly.
